By the 1930’s, Maywood had a park meadow that turned into a baseball field. And by the 1950’s Maywood City, and its Maywood Park was clearly on the map as a baseball association adopted it as its headquarters.

Schools were important to the community too. It was important to keep up with growing industry. The Chrysler Corporation opened an assembly plant in Maywood, and thrived being known as the “Los Angeles” Plant. Willys-Overland became the 2nd automobile manufacturer in the area, employing over 900 people. Then, Lockheed Aircraft Corporation got a foothold in the area with the rise of the 2nd World War, and the manufacture of aircraft bombers. It meant more and more people, learning more and more skills.
