Sony Pictures Entertainment also has their headquarters here in Culver City. Long before Culver City was even established in Southern California, this region of the United States was inhabited by Native American Indians. The Tongva tribe lived here for thousands and thousands of years, and much of their culture is present in the area still today. Harkening back to the time when Spanish explorers and missionaries took over the area, the land around Culver City is still split into various rancheros.

Because of its close proximity to the huge city and sprawling metropolitan area of Los Angeles, Culver City has always had access to many of L.A.’s rich amenities.
