St. Clair Shores is a charming town on the edge of St. Clair Lake, just outside the urban jungle of Detroit. What was once a resort town is now a bedroom community of Motor City, attracting families and up-and-coming professionals who want the feel of a suburban getaway but want to live in close proximity to a city. Given the nature of Werner Spitz’ life’s work, it is no wonder he is one of the many residents who call St. Clair Shores home—Spitz is a famous forensic pathologist, who has become world-famous in recent years for his groundbreaking research and work in crime scene investigation and autopsies.
Spitz is a native of Germany and spent his early life in the recently-formed state of Israel. Upon embarking on a career, with degrees in medicine and after establishing Jerusalem’s Medical School, Spitz decided a move to the United States was in order. He explained, “In seven years in Israel, there was only one murder. It just wasn’t the right place for a forensic pathologist.” Spitz found his calling in working on murder autopsies, first in Baltimore and then in Wayne County, Michigan. His work, however, is not confined to these two regions. Spitz has participated in several high-profile cases and consulted on famous investigations for his expertise in forensic pathology.
Known for his methodical, detailed approach to his work, Spitz has been called upon to weigh in on the assassination of John F. Kennedy, the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr., the O.J. Simpson civil trial, the death of JonBenet Ramsey, the trial of Casey Anthony, the murder of Lana Clarke, and the recently-revived case of Sister Cathy Cesnik, thanks to the Netflix series titled “The Keepers.” Spitz has officially testified regarding all of these cases, and more, either challenging or confirming the findings of other forensic pathologists’ work.
Spitz is a professor of pathology at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit and an adjunct professor of pathology at the University of Windsor in Canada. He has authored a book entitled: Spitz and Fisher’s Medicolegal Investigation of Death: Guidelines for the Application of Pathology to Crime Investigation, which has become an important book in the field often referred to as “the bible of forensic pathology” by those studying to become forensic pathologists.
Spitz has dedicated his life’s work to understanding the details of crime—often grisly circumstances lead to his work on a given case. However, his methodical approach and keen observations has given him an expert perspective rivaled by few in the field. Similarly, Grade Potential tutors in St. Clair Shores work closely and carefully with the clients they are given, observing their study habits, skills, and weaknesses with precision. With these attributes in mind, tutors can then engage in the learning process with their students, collaborating and guiding them to academic success.

Families share goals and scheduling preferences through a short intake. That information becomes a learner profile. Grade Potential then introduces your profile to a professional independent tutor whose background aligns. Once the tutor accepts, you’re introduced directly and sessions can begin.
Our packages are highly customizable based on your budget, preferred session cadence, time frame, location, and a few other factors. You’ll be presented with clear pricing before you begin. We support families in choosing the session length and cadence that works best for their individual situation; no hard sales tactics and no obligation to purchase a long-term package.
Typically within 2-3 business days, depending on subject, location, and schedule availability. Urgent timelines are noted in your profile so introductions prioritize your timing.
