Allen Park Michigan got its start in 1927, when it became one of the villages of Ecorse Township, a community of villages that has since been dissolved, as all the villages slowly gained their own city status. The town was named after Lewis Allen, who was the original owner of much of the area, and was a lumberman by trade. Allen Park grew larger and larger as the area was used by commuters who were heading into the Detroit area or to work at the Ford manufacturing plants. After 3 attempts Allen Park was able to separate itself as its very own town, and today is a bustling hub.
Allen Park is also sometimes called Downriver, and public works are of huge importance to the community. The town is able to boast lower income taxes and unemployment rates then the national averages, and the town is well known for their fantastic education. Recently, the city was given some grants that were used to update all of their schools, making needed repairs to the buildings, while installing white boards and televisions in all the classrooms. These updates along with the already well-known emphasis placed on education make Allen Park an attraction for families and for those needing an Allen Park tutor.
Allen Park is also home to a few interesting sights, one of which being the world’s largest tire. In the 1964 World’s Fair, a large tire was built as an advertisement for Uniroyal tires, and acted as a ferris wheel. Once the fair ended the tire was brought from New York City to Allen Park, as that is where the offices of Uniroyal are located. It will definitely throw you for a loop when you pass it, and imagine the sight of that tire actually functioning as a Ferris wheel! Might be worth a see after you finish up your lesson with your Allen Park tutor.
For all of you football fans, the Detroit Lions actually call Allen Park their home. While it might come as a surprise that the team picked Allen Park over other cities, it makes sense if you think about it. They probably want to train in a smaller town, one where the facility might not always be bombarded with fans or press. Training takes a huge mental commitment as well as a physical one, and having the quiet of the small town probably helps them focus.

Families share goals and scheduling preferences through a short intake. That information becomes a learner profile. Grade Potential then introduces your profile to a professional independent tutor whose background aligns. Once the tutor accepts, you’re introduced directly and sessions can begin.
Our packages are highly customizable based on your budget, preferred session cadence, time frame, location, and a few other factors. You’ll be presented with clear pricing before you begin. We support families in choosing the session length and cadence that works best for their individual situation; no hard sales tactics and no obligation to purchase a long-term package.
