Eastpointe Michigan is a small community, only about 5.1 square miles large, and is made to look even smaller in comparison to its large neighbors, among them Detroit and St. Clair Shores. Despite that it’s a flourishing community, with most of its houses being elegant brick buildings built in the last 30 to 40 years. They have everything someone you could want, along with access to Eastpointe tutors. Eastpointe is made up of many people that travel to the large cities for work, as there are many manufacturing plants large companies located in those areas. While Eastpointe is a small quiet community, they do have an interesting little bit in their history, they have actually been known under 3 different names before Eastpointe!
The town was founded by European immigrants, who traveled to the area in the early 1800’s. The area was originally known as Orange Township, the first name the area would be known as. By 1843 the name was changed again to Erin Township. During this time the town was comprised of mostly European, Irish, and German immigrants.
In the early 1900’s the area went from a township to an actual town, known as Halfway. This name was actually adopted because of the Halfway Inn, which was a popular stop for travelers going between the large cities that bordered Eastpointe on either side. The opening of the Halfway Post Office solidified the name for a while.
This name was short lived, and a few years later it was changed to East Detroit. The town functioned under this name for decades as the city continued to grow and development. Eventually, the residents became frustrated with this name, as they were constantly getting confused with their larger neighbor. They wanted an identity of their own separate from the large metropolis of Detroit. In 1992 the town finally landed on its current name, Eastpointe. Thus far this name has stuck and hopefully be the last change the area has to make!
While Eastpointe may not be large or busy, they put a lot of emphasis on their school systems, and do everything they can to make sure their children have access to the best education they can get them. This includes updated schools, qualified teachers, and Eastpointe tutors available for everyone that wants them. This focus on education means their future will be secured with well rounded and intelligent individuals ready to contribute to society in a variety of ways!
