    About Garland

On the northeast side of Dallas, Texas, you’ll find the suburb of Garland, a large city with its own unique Texan flavor. Garland, officially incorporated in the late 19th century, is cited as a wonderful place to raise a family, and has recently been voted the second best city in the state of Texas.

A high quality of living is part of what makes Garland so great. Residents and businesses alike thrive in Garland, with so many different things to do, places to go, and activities to enjoy. Living up to its high praise as being one of the best cities in Texas, Garland is a place worth visiting (or moving)!

Featuring a climate described as humid subtropical, it can get hot here in the summertime. Usually, the hottest month is July, and typically, the coolest month is January. If you’re not accustomed to the humidity that is common in the southern states, it may take a while for you to get used to, but it isn’t so bad once you adjust.

An interesting demographic fact about Garland is that a little over a tenth of the immigrant population came from Vietnam. A Vietnamese community center is available for these immigrants needs, as well as gives these Texans with a common cultural heritage a sense of community.

When it comes to entertainment, Garland has a lot to offer. From the Granville Arts Center and The Plaza Theater to the Pace House and the Nickelrama Arcade, how could you ever get bored? There’s something for everyone, and entertainment for all ages.

Families love that Garland has over fifty parks throughout the city, and six recreation centers to boot. Acres and acres of state parks land helps preserve some of that “wide open spaces” feel that Texas is loved for. Children of all ages can join various Parks and Recreation Department programs, sports, and clubs. The lush, green parks are well cared for and conveniently located throughout Garland.

The business-friendly attitude that Garland has towards its local businesses helps to encourage the continuously growing economy. With a rich history of hard working businessmen, Garland encourages the hard worker by helping these developments to thrive. The opportunities are there for those willing to work hard enough. The city developers and planners have taken steps to ensure that there are excellent opportunities for residents, and a stable economy for businesses to take root and experience success.
