Middle Village Tutors Come To You

A small, central community in the middle of the thriving borough of Queens in New York City, Middle Village has made a name for itself as a great place to live. Families love living here, and young professionals find that it gives them a great place to call home while working in the Big Apple. With beautiful local parks and access to all of New York City’s high quality local amenities, Middle Village has a lot to offer.

Settled by English immigrants in the early 1800s, Middle Village was more of a “place to stop along the way” then a thriving community. At the time, the area was mainly comprised of a huge swamp, which didn’t make it great land for settling on. This swamp did become famous, however, during the American Revolutionary War, as it was the perfect place for soldiers to hide. After the war ended, many German immigrants began to move to the area that is now Middle Village, and they began to establish more industry and business in the area. It wasn’t until the early 1900s that the local government decided to work on “fixing” the swamp by adding fillers to it, making the land more livable and more desirable. Farmers began to buy pieces of land and invest in agricultural ventures. A few decades later, there was a noticeable residential boom as the industrialization of New York City caused a higher demand on places to live in the area.

As a result of this intense population growth that took place in the 1920s, Middle Village was a target of local land buyers and developers who began to build large housing projects, primarily consisting of small single family homes and apartment complexes. Much of what was built during that time is still around today here in Middle Village.

One reason that families love living in Middle Village is that the crime has been relatively low in comparison to other local communities since the town’s very beginning. This has made Middle Village a very desirable place to live, and continues to draw young families to the area. Beautiful local parks and recreational facilities are also a draw, including Juniper Valley Park, one of the largest public park areas in this part of Queens. It’s amazing to think that this area used to be where the infamous Juniper Swamp was located! Now there are several athletic fields and sports complexes, which entertain the city’s youth on a weekly basis. Large open grass areas and playgrounds attract families from the surrounding communities. Juniper Valley Park is a wonderful asset that Middle Village boasts.

Middle Village families consider themselves lucky that they have access to all of the educational resources provided by the New York City Department of Education. For any students that are struggling, local Middle Village tutors are available to help. These local tutors are able to meet with each student one-on-one and help them develop better study skills and work toward their personal educational goals.
