Between residences and commercial buildings, Maspeth fosters a small-town feel in the middle of the biggest city in the United States. Located in the borough of Queens, in New York City, Maspeth has an almost-suburban feel, popular for families and community living. Maspeth has long been inviting to those who need a respite from city living. Historically, Maspeth was a popular hub for Italian, Polish, and Irish immigrants, and currently, is home to many Latino and Hispanic populations. Not only does Maspeth provide a place for strong family and community ties, it provides New York City with several cemeteries—the final resting places for many of the city’s residents.
Queens and other boroughs in the New York City area were responsible, for many years, for interring the city’s dead. As a result, several neighborhoods in each of the boroughs are home to many cemeteries that often date back to the late eighteenth century. Mount Olivet is the neighborhood’s largest cemetery. Their philosophy is that cemeteries exist “because every life is worth loving and remembering–always.” It sits on a scenic hill of Maspeth, overlooking the skyline of New York, and providing a respectable distance from his hustle and bustle.
In 1911, New York’s famous Shirt Waist Factory Fire resulted in over 100 deaths of its workers, many of them Italian and Jewish immigrants and young women. It was the biggest industrial accident that the city of New York has seen in its history. It began as a result of a match or cigarette thrown into a pile of scrap fabric, and quickly spread over three floors. People jumped from windows, attempted to use fire escapes that fell off the side of buildings, and many more perished from smoke inhalation and burns. The community of Maspeth opened its arms and interred sixteen of the victims—many of the dead were interred in surrounding borough cemeteries—and community came together to construct monuments to their untimely deaths. In an urban setting of anonymity and overcrowding, the Shirt Waist Factory fire brought borough and central city residents together, and Mount Olivet played a key role in providing a final resting place for the victims of the city’s tragedy.

Our packages are highly customizable based on your budget, preferred session cadence, time frame, location, and a few other factors. You’ll be presented with clear pricing before you begin. We support families in choosing the session length and cadence that works best for their individual situation; no hard sales tactics and no obligation to purchase a long-term package.
