"We had a great experience working with our tutor, Danielle. She was wonderful, patient, kind, and always prepared. She even tailored lessons to Sofia's needs (and moods)."

Most of us run away at the sight of those scaly creatures called reptiles. But just as many are intrigued and fascinated by them, and are even brave enough to own them as pets. This is where the inspiration for the Reptile Zoo came about in Fountain Valley California.
Jay Brewer opened Prehistoric Pets in 1988 as a pet store designed for reptile enthusiasts. His theme was “build it and they will come”, and that is exactly what happened. His amazing set up and dedication paid off, to the point the store had to relocate to a larger 5000 square foot building, and then relocate again a few years later to a 10,000-square foot location. Jay Brewer must have been meeting with his Fountain Valley tutor regularly to have such a great knowledge of business, people, and reptiles.
From this pet store was created the Reptile Zoo, an educational and entertainment facility that over 100 exotic and rare species of reptiles, amphibians, and arachnids calls home. His animals come from all walks of life; some are rescues given up by owners that could no longer care for them, some were born at the Reptile Zoo, and others are actually a part of private collections. This facility boasts having a better variety then most traditional zoos, and for the brave at heart there are even some that you can hold!
The Reptile Zoo has an impressive American Alligator Exhibit, designed to educate people about these impressive species as well as warn about the dangers of owning one as a pet. An adult American Alligator can grow up to 15 feet long and have a bite force of 2,125 pounds! If that wasn’t enough the Reptile House boasts a huge assortment of chameleons, rattlesnakes, rear-fanged venomous snakes, pythons, boas, anacondas, iguanas, monitors, tegus, turtles, tortoises, geckos, lizards, frogs, toads, nonvenomous snakes, fish, and arachnids. Definitely enough to keep you looking for quite a while!
If you’ve just recently been visiting with your Fountain Valley biology tutor, the Reptile House might be a good place to visit to see first-hand the environment and care required for these species, as well as how they live and thrive. It’s also a great place to go if you just happen to be a reptile enthusiast and want to see some rare and exotic species, as well as learn some fun facts and interesting information while you’re there!

Families share goals and scheduling preferences through a short intake. That information becomes a learner profile. Grade Potential then introduces your profile to a professional independent tutor whose background aligns. Once the tutor accepts, you’re introduced directly and sessions can begin.
Our packages are highly customizable based on your budget, preferred session cadence, time frame, location, and a few other factors. You’ll be presented with clear pricing before you begin. We support families in choosing the session length and cadence that works best for their individual situation; no hard sales tactics and no obligation to purchase a long-term package.
Typically within 2-3 business days, depending on subject, location, and schedule availability. Urgent timelines are noted in your profile so introductions prioritize your timing.
In-person at home or another convenient, quiet, safe location (like the local library). When families need flexibility, online sessions are also available.
Experienced, professional independent tutors with strong subject knowledge and a track record of working one-on-one with students. Many hold degrees in their fields; some are certified teachers or graduate students with specialized expertise.
Yes—safety is our top priority. Tutors complete screening through Simpliverified background checks, consistent with local requirements and platform standards.
Just let Grade Potential know. Your profile can be introduced to a different tutor at no cost to you, and once accepted, you’ll be re-introduced so sessions continue without losing momentum.
Support spans elementary through college across all core subjects (math, reading, writing, science, languages) plus test prep (e.g., SAT/ACT, AP, GRE) and many electives. If it’s taught in school, there’s likely a tutor with relevant experience. Adult learners can also benefit from tutoring services in a wide variety of subjects.
Most families choose 60-90 minute sessions 1-2 times per week. Cadence and length are set directly with the tutor to fit the student’s goals, pace, and schedule.
