I would be a good tutor for Grade Potential because I absolutely *love* to teach. I also have a knack for conveying information to others in a way that is easy to understand. I'm a patient person, and detail is very important to me. I'm very goal-oriented, and my language and communication skills are excellent. There's nothing I enjoy more than working with someone to acheive their goals.

My passion for kids has been life long. I have always enjoyed mentoring and teaching and I have been in the business since 1983. It gives me great satisfaction when working with a student to see their connection with the work finally being made. Developing a relationship with these students and watching their growth made during our sessions is incredibly rewarding.

I have extensive experience in writing, reading, psychology, and history. I am going to enroll in the teaching program at Cal Poly after I graduate so I can become a high school history/psychology teacher. I also want to teach abroad in developing countries because I have a passion for helping students achieve their goals.I often help other students by peer editing their papers and helping them study for their English, Psychology, and History courses.

I particularly enjoy working with young children who have special learning needs, language/ cultural barriers, or other factors that affect their ability to succeed. I strive to develop a strong personal connection with each student, whether in a classroom or 1:1 instructional setting. I draw from my diverse background and training (including the arts) to make learning enjoyable and relevant to the student's daily activities, interests, and personal goals.I returned to college at age 40 with a passion for the arts and commitment to working with children. My desire is to truly "make a difference" in a child's life by being a compassionate companion in their education, nurturing their self esteem, stimulating a lifelong joy of learning, and evoking their innate sense of wonder of the world around them.

I am very patient, and I love to help others. I really believe that being able to teach the material to someone is a sign of your understanding in the matter. When studying for tests, I often try to explain subjects from engineering to my friends and family without knowledge in the subject. If they can understand what I try to teach them, I know that I understand that material pretty well.

I am a native speaker who has Credentials in the field from the top-ranked Russian University combined with extensive teaching experience.I take my job seriously, am professional, honest, compassionate, flexible and ready to help.During my career as a University professor, including contracts as a visiting professor in India, Austria and the US, I taught students of all levels and ages, from teenagers to retirees; from diplomats to journalists, scientists and businessmen.My recent experiences include tutoring a Stanford student for his Master's in Russian Lit., teaching beginners' Russian and Spanish through community programs, as well as developing several programs for Cal Pac School in SLO.I authored and co-authored several manuals and instructions for teachers as well a number of workbooks for students. I also recently translated a 3-volume comprehensive textbook on Russian Grammar developed by my former colleagues in Russia, which is now being sold throughout Europe.

As a lead naturalist at an outdoor science school, I teach 4-6 grade science standards on a daily basis throughout the school year.I have a multiple subject teaching credential and would be comfortable tutoring K-6.I am used to developing curriculum. I write my own lessons and create my teaching materials on a regular basis.I like being challenged. It brings out my creativity and problem solving skills.I love one-on-one or small group communication. It allows me to tune in to my students and craft my teaching strategies to their needs. I am quick to "tune in."I want the student to learn. If a student is having a tough time understanding a concept, it is my job to adjust my style until I find one that works.I work with new students every week. They all have different abilities, learning styles and language proficiency. I adjust my lessons to start where they need me to start.

I LOVE helping with whatever I can and always enjoy working with students. I have an upbeat and an "everything should be fun" perspective. I think that's important as a tutor, since you want the student to have the best experience in learning possible.Ive always been a helping student to my peers and classmates. I haven't had an official title as "tutor" but I have taught music lessons and been a leader in mentoring and kids programs ranging from elementary and middle school leadership programs, all the way to Week Of Welcome at the college level.
