I feel very confident about my abilities to fulfill this position because I am able to remain calm under pressure. My work and life experiences have made me a strong person and I am able to learn new things very quickly. I speak more than three languages. I can relate very easily to Students' needs. I have experience with providing excellent service and I have a good sense of humor. I am able to work with or without constant supervision. I have experience dealing with a diverse group of people and I know I can perform my assigned duties without complaining.

While studying Aerospace Engineering at Cal Poly, I've completed Calculus, and took more advanced mathematics afterwards. I've utilized Calculus 141 course matter throughout the numerous engineering courses I've accomplished before changing majors.I have an extraordinary amount of patients when dealing with other people. I absolutely love helping students learn more about a subject they may not find interesting, or be struggling with.

I enjoy teaching/tutoring and have often been told that I am good at it. I am a firefighter/paramedic and I see students that are now working in the field that I have not seen for years. They tell me how much they liked my teaching or how they still use some nugget that I taught them. I also coach my sons soccer team and often put classes on for my Coast Guard unit.I teach at the Allan Hancock EMS Academy and the for EMT and CPR courses. Last year I taught an early morning math class at my sons school for the advanced 5th and 6th graders.

My passion is helping people learn new skills, whether it is in education or sports. Currently I am tutoring some friends' children (8th grade and 10th grade). I also coach a kids swim team, teach swim lessons to children and adults, and coach an adult swim program. After I graduated Cal Poly, I worked at Cisco Systems for almost 10 years and Juniper Networks for 5 years. Much of that time I was putting together training programs for customers and helping customers design their networks and solve their problems. While it was fun, I realized that I really didn't enjoy working in a large corporate environment. In March of 2010 I quit my job so that I could just spend time coaching swimming and working with kids.

I make a good tutor because I am patient, respectful and intuitive. I also have a passion for learning, and I understand the value of learning for the individual and for society as a whole.My first experience as a tutor was when I taught my son to read when he was 4 1/2 years old. Next, I worked in the Cuesta College Tutoring office and one of my duties was to train new tutors how to tutor. I have also been part of various informal group and individual tutoring sessions.

I am friendly and willing to work hard to find a good learning style for each student.Tutored a 13 year old, 7th grader, who had ADD. I helped him with all subjects, organizing his priorities, preparing for future work and tests. Assisted a 16 year old sophomore with certain projects and homework, basic math, and English essays mainly.

I taught elementary school for over 30 years with most of my experience in the primary grades. I am skilled at motivating and engaging children to be successful learners. I know how to modify a lesson or task so that the student is able to move forward with confidence and ease. I even make learning fun.I am currently volunteering with the Literacy Council and I am working with a Native English speaker as she strives to improve her reading comprehension as well as her vocabulary.

I have enough experience as a tutor to understand the different personalities and learning speeds of students. This allows me to help the students understand and learn the material.Tutored k-12 math 2002-2004.Facilitated daily math study sessions for pre-calculus and calculus students summer 2006.Tutored Spanish, Physics 1-2, math (algebra, trigonometry, linear algebra, pre-calculus, and calculus), Statics and CAD at a tutoring center 2007-2008.
