I'm very responsible and reliable. I work hard to make sure my students succeed in whatever goals they set for themselves. I love helping students to succeed so I work as much as I can with the student to get that goal accomplished.I have been a tutor for the Cal Poly athletes for the past few months. This experience has taught me how to deal effectively with students needing tutoring.

I am interested in becoming a middle school biology teacher. I love the sciences, specifically biology. When I was in middle school (6-8th grade) I disliked science until 7th grade. I had a great biology teacher who made learning fun and made sure everybody in the class participated. I still remember the song she made us memorize to remember the steps of mitosis. I feel I could bring this same enthusiasm to teaching.I was a T.A. for high school pre- algebra and a 3rd grade class in 2001. I have not done any formal tutoring since then. In college I would always study in groups which is basically an informal tutoring session with fellow classmates. With a degree in Zoology most of the classes taken are biology classes. From microbiology to animal physiology to pathology, so I have a strong background in biology.

My name is Tanya Don, and I currently go to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. I am a Kinesiology major and I am working towards becoming a nurse practitioner. I am a good tutor for Grade Potential because I am dedicated to helping other students. I am punctual and reliable. I am also energetic and have great leadership skills. I am looking forward to working with all different students.I used to work at SCORE Education Center! At SCORE I worked with children from ages 5 to about 13 years old. I went around the room helping the children who had questions about the subject they were working on. I also helped a second grade teacher by working one on one with some children who needed more help in math and English.

I have earned my tutoring certification through the College Reading & Learning Association. I have always been driven to succeed academically and it is a pleasure for me to help others succeed in the same way!I tutored for Cal Poly's Academic Skills Center throughout the past four years. My primary focus was in precalculus, although my strengths encompass both math and science.

I am a good tutor for grade potential because my passion is helping people communicate effectively, and I like working with people. Challenges keep me alive, and helping people with their writing presents many!I have tutored students at Cal Poly and Allan Hancock College in writing for five years. My specialties are college composition courses, documentation, technical writing, and grammar.

My greatest joy is being there when a student reaches a moment he/she understands a concept previously cloudy to them. Often it is the source of frustration and humiliation. Helping someone climb out of that is a wonderful gift.I believe in using your talents for other people. You don't have to be good at everything. Choose one strong skill you possess - mine is teaching - and hone it to help other people.I tutored a 6th grade ADD student for organizational skills and language arts.Of course, tutoring some of my own students throughout the years as an elementary teacher was part of keeping their skills at grade level.

I have worked with children from age 2-12. I have a teaching credential and feel I am able to assist children in meeting their educational needs. I am able to differentiate instruction according to a students individual learning style. I am patient and kind, yet firm with my students, and make sure that my expectations are always clear. As an employee, I am punctual, organized and practical.

In September I begin graduate studies in American Literature. Upon receiving a Masters in English, I intend to teach literature on the college level and kindle students’ interest in the liberal arts. I am committed to students succeeding in their education and learning to express themselves clearly on paper. Teaching is not just another job to me. It is a passion and a career goal. For this reason, I am enthused about joining Grade Potential in providing students with quality assistance.I have one year of experience teaching high school students rudimentary biblical exegesis, and I have four years of experience discussing and explaining exemplar rhetoric and composition.
