Find a Local Tutor Who Gets It

I am trilingual speaking, reading, and writing Spanish, German, and English fluently. I have been a substitute teacher of all grade levels for two years and a teacher's assistant for three. I enjoy working with students of all ages and am able to adapt to many learning styles.AVID tutor at South Tahoe High I aided students with college applications, personal statements as well as everyday homework and classwork along with senior project responsibilities.Substitute Teacher I direct classrooms of students ranging from kindergarten through high school. I have an emphasis on bilingual education at Pacheco Elememtary. I have assisted students after school or during breaks with their assignments.

I would be a great asset to Grade Potential because i love what I do. I love the feeling that I helped a student understand a concept or help them pass a class that they needed. Because I love teaching I will always be on time and never fail in helping out the students first and foremost. It is a challenge when students do not have the same math capabilities that I do but I have learned a few tricks from my past teachers and other math tutors as well. Each student is different and once you can figure out how they learn I feel that teaching them material will not be that hard. I love to see students grow and learn and I want to see them succeed in their student careers. My goal is to make people understand that math is not scary, it can be fun and easy to understand.

I would be a good tutor for Grade Potential because I have always been a motivated student and dedicated learner, and I want to help others develop the discipline and skills that make learning a positive experience. My academic record proves that I have always considered academic excellence a priority, but I also consider myself a lifelong student-- I have a wide variety of interests, and believe that reading and studying new things when no grades hang in the balance is an important life skill. This means that if I am assigned particular subjects for tutoring, I will gladly put in the work necessary to make sure that I am able to best help students in those areas. I also believe that while academic success is important, it is far more important to teach a student the discipline and motivation that will allow them to tackle challenging situations in the future. Whether that's a Microbiology test or a tough day at the office, the same skills and patience that studying with a tutor requires will help that student succeed later. Of course, tutoring a student so that they will have academic success in a specific subject is the goal, but I believe that when it's done right, you've prepared a student for more than just one class. Because of my lifelong involvement in competitive basketball, I am extremely reliable and used to keeping a rigorous schedule of mandatory practices and games. Punctuality is necessary in athletics, particularly when you play at the collegiate level as I did. It also taught me to balance a demanding athletic schedule with my equally demanding academic courses, meaning that I am now very able to handle multiple responsibilities, manage my time, and meet all expectations in more than one are at once.

My goal for my own education is not simply to scrape by with simply passing a specific class. My goal has always been the mastery of a subject I took, whether it be in Mathematics or in many of the courses in Science I have taken. I seek for ways to understand my own way of learning, and hope to be able to teach in a way that speaks to a specific individual, whether it be a visual, audio, or hands on learning. Learning is a passion of mine and that is a great asset for a teacher. I am not afraid to be posed with a question that I do not know. I will take the time to find the answer to it. We are all only human, and we do not have infinite knowledge. However, what can make a great teacher is the determination to find answers to the questions they do not know.

In my time as a teacher of young children, I have mastered the art of patience. I understand that people learn in a variety of ways, and I enjoy going through the process of learning new things, knowing that this looks differently for each person!I have an outstanding history of reliability and punctuality because I value my students' time as much as my own!

I believe that I would make a great tutor for kids because I have a very cheery disposition and would be able to make learning fun and enjoyable. I am very patient with kids who take more time to learn new concepts, and I feel as though I can explain concepts in an easy-to-understand way. I would love to teach them with methods that are fun. I also have previous experience tutoring children so it would be a comfortable environment for my students and me.

My desire to teach/tutor stems largely from my grander goals of one day becoming a high school teacher. I am motivated to pursue a career where I can share knowledge and hopefully produce contributing members of society. In the larger picture, this is why I think I would be a good tutor for Grade Potential.Personally, and not to sound conceited, I have always been a good student. I believe helping other students improve their own academic skills is one of the most important facets of being a tutor. I am a hard worker, a good leader, and a reliable employee. I think I am fun loving, intellectually stimulated, and cool young man who would be able to get along with whoever I was tutoring with ease.Aside from my personality, I also believe, as mentioned above, that my well rounded education has given me an appreciation for most all studies. Everything is important and more than we realize, everything is connected. Each branch of science are woven together quite beautifully just as every piece of literature/art is a transcription of the writer's/artist's emotions.Ultimately, not only am I motivated to be work as a tutor but I think I am adequately qualified. I say "adequately" merely to humble myself. I am not Einstein but I do believe I am educated and can have a positive impact on the students and tutors I'd work with.

I spent 2 years as a resident staff member of Camp Stevens (a non-profit Episcopal affiliated facility that has 365 acres to accommodate an outdoor education program, conference center and retreat programs, as well as a high ropes course). I taught week long overnight outdoor education experiences from spring through fall. I spent 2 summers there as the Organic Garden Intern in which I initiated a garden education activity program, engaging guests of all ages in informative and hands-on activities.I have worked, for 3 years, at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park as a Walking Tour Guide for our overnight camping experience called Roar and Snore. I engaged families of all ages in an informative, fun, and friendly tours and activities. (Including leading a campfire drum circle!)I understand and exemplify great customer service.I take ownership, responsibility, and pride in my work. I'm dedicated, patient, reliable, organized, and kind.
