I love working with kids and have a passion for learning. I am very experienced with teaching others new things and know how to explain information in a clear way. I am a responsible and energetic worker. I put 100% into everything I do. I never miss class, work, or appointments. Commitment is one of my number one priorities. Below is a picture of my first marathon. I had to put in hours of dedication and training(and I finished just 2 minutes before the cut off time!).

I am a teacher at heart. My strategies and techniques evolve around the student as the center and guide of my instuction. I have a big "toolbox" of teaching strategies and differentiation techniques. I have my Masters in the Arts of Teaching and I have been teaching for 10 years. I lived in Argentina for two years and Mexico for one, and I have travelled extensively thoughout Central and South America, as well as Eastern Europe and North Africa. I have been involved in and surrounded by education my whole life. I am a reliable person who is always on time and cares about my students and my work. I am the Managing Director of Organic World Language (OWL), and I develop curriculum and train teachers across the nation to create more student-centered and proficiency-based learning environments.

I am perceptive, expressive and a quick thinker. In my academic career, I have always gravitated towards helping my classmates understand the material better. During the last 7 months as a teaching assistant, I was able to confirm and fine tune my teaching abilities. I can understand pupils' specific hangups and approach problems from a different angles. This allows me to cater to different situations individually.I have always believed in throughly understanding concepts instead of memorizing their details. If I were a student seeking help from Grade Potential, I would want the most out of my tutoring experience not just to pass a course, but to better my long term retention. I am very creative and love tying lessons in to everyday scenarios. I like to teach lessons with several techniques in order to click with the learning style. My lessons are interactive, hands on, precise and visually appealing. I have always been a very prompt person, arriving early to everything I commit to. When I commit to something, I do not back out or flake. After all, you're only as good as your word!I tutored after school for 3rd-8th for 5 years, and I tutored high school students in writing for 2 years.

I'm really friendly and personable, and I have tons of experience tutoring and working with my peers. Two of my main principles of learning are that 1. no question is a stupid question, and 2. just writing out a problem slowly (with all the steps!) can eliminate a lot of confusion. I learned these from my dad a long time ago and I can ascribe a lot of my academic success to them.I have made it this far because I don't let people down, and I follow through with my commitments. I managed my time throughout high school and I have continued to do so at Harvard. I have also held paid jobs since I was 14 years old, and one of the biggest lessons I have learned throughout these jobs is that it is extremely important/helpful to show up 5 minutes early with a smile!I will be home on May 12 (one week!) and I have 0 things on my schedule :) I will have a car to drive. I think I would be a good tutor for Grade Potential because working with students and children is my passion; teaching is my dream and my passion. I have always know this and I have been driven enough to achieve my goal of becoming a credentialed teacher. I am a hard working, reliable individual and I treat others the way I would like to be treated. I am constantly striving to be a positive role model for the students around me as well as someone they can depend on and trust in times of need. I like simplicity and organization and I work on applying that to the areas of my life.

I feel that I am a well-rounded individual and have a lot to offer, in terms of my knowledge and experiences. I have the ability to explain things in such a way that are very easily understood by others. One very useful study tip that I gained while in college was to teach back the information, whether to yourself or to another. Research shows that if a person can teach back material learned there is a potential for 90% retention of that information. I feel that I can be relied upon because I am very structured, and find it easiest to function when having a set schedule.While I attended UCSB I was involved in many of the programs offered by the Office of Student Life. One of which allowed me to connect with a fellow peer, who was a first year student at the time, the goal of this connection was to give advice and collaborate ideas to form a four year plan. For me, this was a very rewarding experience because I love sharing the knowledge I have with others.
