Find a Local Tutor Who Gets It

I have had the privaledge of working with young people for over 15 years. I fully understand that our young people are the future of this great country. Therefore, I am a firm believer that all students deserve the best education possible and consider it a privaledge to help students excel in school.

I love reading and I love the English language. I have the skills to help others improve their reading skills. I want part time work, and I want it to be doing something that really means something to me. I feel comfortable working with kids, teens, and adults.I was a teaching assistant and reading tutor for students in the Santa Monica School elementary system for four years. I worked as a volunteer tutor for a couple of years here in Camarillo, tutoring adult students for reading (through the Camarillo Literacy Program, which required many hours of training prior to my work for them). For the past couple of years I have been volunteering on my own for an adult learner at the library.

Although I believe my greatest strength is being able to communicate and make understandable difficult ideas, I believe I am adept at motivating students and helping them reach their goals. I take an entirely holistic approach to tutoring; I am not just interested in helping the student learn a concept, I want them to see the value of the subject matter itself and how success in the classroom can translate to overall success in life.I truly care about student learning and take great pride in my teaching ability.

My past experience has taught me a lot about the learning process and the necessary skills for retaining student interest, explaining difficult concepts and practicing subject matter until students have fully grasped them. To effectively teach students, a tutor must be patient, persistent and fully understand the subject matter. I possess these qualities and feel that I would be an excellent tutor for Grade Potential.I have tutored for the Academic Advantage for 3 years now and have gained the skills necessary to help articulate subject matter to students of all ages. Additionally, I have tutored classmates in a variety of biology courses, math and chemistry classes.

I would be a good tutor for Grade Potential because I am extrememly patient, I am quite knowledgeable about my subjects, and I can tutor in a manner that students would be able to understand me.Have tutored kindergarten students as volunteer work for Mar Vista Elementary in Oxnard.

Because I am very versatile in my studies, and I am an excellent teacher. I have tutored before, and my students' grades always improve at least one grade level. My teaching style is formal, but relaxed and approachable, and gives the students an excellent learning environment.

I am the published author of two books with an excellent knowledge of languages and literature, which I would like to share with learners. I have good communication skills and am able to explain things simply and clearly. I enjoy teaching and helping people in areas where my skills and knowledge can be of benefit.While living in China I acted as an English tutor to several students.

I would be a great tutor for Grade Potential because teaching is what I love to do. It is so rewarding for me to make a difference in a child's learning potential.Since in today's times, it is almost impossible to become a teacher, at least I can utilize my teaching skills by tutoring.I love to see the smile on a child's face when they get it. (understand it) When you can finally get the point across or accomplish a specific task, idea or goal.
