Find a Local Tutor Who Gets It

I would be a good tutor because I would be able not only to teach French but also to make it fun by introducing the student to the culture as well. My students would also be able to learn how to pronounce French properly which is not always the case when the French teacher is American. It is fascinating for me to see somebody learning and getting proficient in my native language. It bring me joy to teach my language and my culture. Since all my classes are online, my schedule is very flexible and would be easy for me to fulfill my commitments. I'm a very motivated woman. I have a background working in an office and as a result I'm very organized, punctual and reliable.

Firstly, I am very knowledgeable in the subject area I would like to tutor--namely, Spanish, French, and/or Italian. Language is something I am very interested in and I believe it is extremely important to learn a second language as the world becomes more and more interconnected and globalized. I am currently working on attaining a TEFL certificate in order to teach English abroad within the next year, and I think working as a tutor would be great experience in order to one day be a certified teacher. I am very reliable and have consistently shown up to all of my past and current jobs on time. Teaching language is something I'm interested in pursuing, and I think working as a tutor would be a great start to a career as a teacher.

My name is Michael Oberto and I am 22. I was born in Fresno, California and graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara last June. I seek a position with Grade Potential because I love to teach (particularly elementary school students in all things english/reading/writing, as well as higher educational students in the fields of psychology, biology and psychoactive substances on the brain). From what I have collected, good tutoring requires a deep understanding of educational material; however, great tutoring additionally requires patience, passion for teaching, and exceptional communication skills. My interest and success in scholastic endeavors, as well as the educational positions I have held, reveal that I possess the aforementioned skills that make a great tutor and a potential asset to Grade Potential.I took several Advanced Placement classes throughout high school and passed each with either a 4 or a 5 on the AP exam. This includes Environmental Science (4), Psychology (4), Composition (4), Literature (5), and Government (4). As a college student at the University of California, Santa Barbara, I was involved in several scholastic extra-cirriculars. This included: 1) being a research assistant in two different laboratories, 2) a exam proctor for the Disabled Students Program, 3) lecturer in the UCSB Alcohol and Drugs Prevention Program lecture series. In addition to work in laboratories and small organizations, I was the President of the largest club at the University of California, Santa Barbara (The Santa Barbara Ski and Snowboard Club). This greatly improved my communication skills as one who is in a leadership position.Lastly, I have been promoted from teaching assistant to head teaching assistant, staff to President of the Ski and Snowboard Club, and from lifeguard to head lifeguard - all of which required patience, exceptional work ethic, and phenomenal communication skills to obtain. I was also nominated for the UCSB Senior "Award of Distinction" by the professor I was a teaching assistant. With his support (and support from many of the members from the Alcohol and Drugs Prevention Program that I worked with at UCSB), I won the award.Thank you for your time and consideration. I work well with children, I am a reliable person, and I have a healthy personality. I take working with kids seriously as they are the future and it is my responsiblity to help them every step of the way. I am very passionate about this work which makes it very easy to motivate and get the kids learning what the need to.I have worked in After School programs for the last three years, one year at the Boys and Girls Club of Ventura County and have had the opportunity to help kids with homework from grades K-8 on a daily basis.

I have had a long education voyage, I found out in college that I had a learning disability and it changed the perspective of my whole education k-12. I learned that I was a different type of learner, I needed to read it, hear it and then be able to tell someone what I have learned. This has been the only way I have been able to complete my higher education. I had to go through tutoring in several subjects. I think I have the ability to teach people who struggle with or have gone through the same issues with learning differently. I am very reliable , I put my priorities first and I would make it a priority to establish trust and personal relationships with tutoring students who needs that extra help and are looking forward to making progress.

I am friendly and outgoing, I am known to put people at ease. I have wanted to be a High School English teacher for many years, I love to help my peers understand and grasp concepts in English writing and reading. I have a sister who is 2 years below me in school and I mentored her and her friends in college essay writing and SAT preparation. I was enrolled in a rigorous SAT preparation course for 16 months and have an excellent understanding of the test and the material. I scored a 1920 on my SAT and received a nearly perfect scores on the writing and reading portions (720 and 760 respectively). As a student with a demanding academic schedule, I understand the importance of time management and punctuality. Any student relying on me for guidance and help can count on me to be a reliable, friendly, and focused tutor.

Worked with AmeriCorps for one year tutoring Cesar Chavez, Franklin Elementary Schools and Goleta Valley high School. I tutored the 3rd, 4th, 7th and 8th graders in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geometry and Trigonometry.Worked with an SES company ( Academia Tutoring Service ) for 6 months tutoring English Composition and grammar to K - 5th graders.I have worked one year each at the following institutions :Antioch University : Statistics, Biology, Algebra I , Algebra II and Geometry.Santa Barbara City College: Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Geometry, Algebra I, Algebra II and Trigonometry.Fullerton College: Biology, Chemistry, Trigonometry, Algebra I, Algebra II and Geometry.

Im would be a very reliable tutor. I take my job seriously when it comes to students. If they need help its all about them, their future is in my hands. I would not give up on helping a student and I'm very patient. I will work with the students and make sure they get the help they need. I have experience in the past with tutoring so i feel very comfortable that I can help students. I know how to approach subjects because i was in their shoes at one time. I am also an all around positive and friendly person. I know how important it is to be positive and i think thats one of my greatest qualities that i pass onto the kids Im tutoring. I don't know everything, no one does, but I can tell you that i will do my best to help students and I won't give up.
