Find a Local Tutor Who Gets It

I have a passion for learning which is why I went back to school. I would love to be able to help younger students gain a deeper appreciation and curiosity of the world around them. To be honest, though I love school, high school academics did not easy but I've learned that much can be achieved with hard work and discipline. I do think that experience will help me relate to students frustrated by their work.I am very punctual and reliable. I don't like others to let me down or not show up and I would not do that to another. Since I have been a student and a teacher I understand the importance of timelines and the stress students may feel.As a student now, I have a flexible schedule and I believe being a tutor is how I can make the most of my free time.

I believe I will make a good tutor because I know what it takes to accomplish educational goals and how hard it can be if there is no one there to help you. I have taken many different classes so I know about various subjects. I have also learned many different methods of studying, such as using flashcards, and I can teach the students to apply them themselves. I have held various jobs and have never called out unless I was seriously ill which shows that I am a reliable person. Punctuality is very important to me and I know that it is also important to the student because if I'm not there, they won't be learning.

I believe I would be a good tutor for Grade Potential because I enjoy teaching people subjects that I am passionate about (in this case history and economics). Since I enjoy these subjects I spend time out of class learning about them allowing me to give the students interesting and pertinent real life examples to help further their understanding of the subject. I will be a reliable tutor because my previous work experiences were on small construction job sites were you had to be on time or cost the owner money. Due to this I am reliable and getting to where I need to be on time, I also have Monday and Friday completely off giving me a lot of potential time to meet up with students.

I have fantastic communication skills and find it very easy to interact with all sorts of people, regardless of age.I was asked to TA for several biology classes in college and enjoyed helping non-majors understand the fundamentals of biology. Its really a fantastic feeling when you see the light 'come on' in the persons eyes, at which point they truly understand the subject matter.As someone who once depended on tutors myself, I know how dependent the student is upon the tutor. I would never want to compromise a student's full learning potential by just deciding not to show up for a scheduled appointment.

I believe in the fundamental importance of education. A good education is one of the most critical components contributing to a child’s development. The ability to reason, problem-solve and assimilate information are needed to succeed in our continually evolving world. My strong advocacy for education considered in conjunction with my background makes me well-suited to be a tutor. I have both past tutoring and teaching experience. I understand that no two children learn the same way and that there are no truly standardized teaching methods. I realize the importance of individualized instruction; effective education is student-driven and not mass produced. Lessons should be relevant and curriculum integration can be very successful. Based on the teaching I have done over the past couple of years outside of the United States, I have been exposed to many new and creative teaching methods that can be applied across curricula. I learned how to incorporate games and applied creativity, as well as teaching several different age groups. Being a good tutor is more than knowing your subject matter or being reliable, those aspects are a given. It’s about providing learning support for that student. It may be that they need confidence in applying the material or they need to learn the subject matter at a slower pace. It could be that the student needs to see the material as relevant. It is up to the tutor to decipher what support the student needs and then work with them to achieve their educational goals.

I feel that I would make a great tutor, not only because I have ample experience with kids but because I specifically have experience with kids in a learning environment. I grew up attending a Montessori school, which really emphasized the joy in learning and how to get the children to appreciate the knowledge being given to them; since then, I have returned to the school as a volunteer and it taught me a lot about how to communicate with the children effectively to help them succeed. I also grew up as the oldest in a large family, which I believe has inspired me to work with children. I am currently studying to be certified as a teacher, and working as a tutor would give me the experience to better myself as an educator.As far as being reliable, I will do everything I can to make my appointments and stay true to the commitments I made. I take my work very seriously, and would not jeopardize it. I played soccer and lacrosse for fifteen years, and one of the most valuable lessons it taught me was commitment. Years of practices, game, and tournaments taught me how important it is to be there for your teammates and coaches. I think of the workplace as a similar situation, in which we all depend on each other and it is up to each individual to do their part in order to succeed collectively.

I'm very enthusiastic about learning languages and I love to help people who want to learn as well. I'm very organized and focused on my work and believe that this would both be a benefit to the student and to me. I am always on time, I don't like keeping people waiting. I think that I would be able to fulfill the commitments needed to be a good tutor because I have had the experience before and I received good feedback on my work as a tutor.I have tutored students at the Rabat American School to help them with their struggles in their french class. I believe that I was a big help to them because I could fluently speak both languages and when they wouldn't understand something in french I would explain it to them in english. I also participated in a volunteer program called Dar Taliba in which I helped girls who lived in an orphanage learn french and to use the computer so I am familiar on the basic techniques on how to communicate and teach students. My mother is a kindergarden teacher and I have grown up in an environment with the love of learning.

I beleive that I would make a great tutor, because I have a passion for teaching. I am currently working on getting my teaching credential and believe that this opportunity would be a rewarding experience. I am reliable, self-motivated and excellent references that could confirm that I am able to fulfill all of my commitmentsI had a volunteer position in Cusco Peru, where I was responsible for creating and teaching my own English lesson plan that I then taught to a group of girls ages 7-15.I have also had 5+ years experience being a nanny, and my position required me to be present and help the children with all of their homework.
