I received a B.A. in Business and Economics and a minor in Health and Exercise Science. I grew up teaching my three younger siblings for fun. My passion for teaching became a career when I became a summer camp counselor at the age of 13. There I gained experience teaching math, science, reading, and art. I have always been passionate about my studies, and I work hard to pass my enthusiasm on to my students. My strong academic background along with my extensive experience with children make me an extremely capable tutor. I have received Dean's Honors on many occasions during the completion of my undergraduate degree. I specialize in math, especially pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, calculus, and SAT Math (I scored 780/800). I also teach all levels of English and reading comprehension.

I would be a good tutor for Grade Potential because I basically love to teach. My favorite thing about tutoring is when I see that they 'get' what i'm teaching. I currently tutor my younger brothers online in their algebra using the phone and a program I found online but I would love to work for a reputable company and get extra money to tutor.worked for UROK Learning Institute for a year before moving to UCSB. The kids ranged from K-12 and the subjects were reading, literature and math. This was done in a 1 on 1 setting in the students home or in a public library.

I would be a great tutor for this company because I work well and relate with young adolescents. I have worked with teenagers as a high school football coach and substitute teacher in Ventura County for the past 10 years. Also, I have a great passion for all genres of history. This is a significant advantage for me because many secondary school students perform poorly in social studies simply due to their lack of interest in the subject, and my passion for the subject will be quickly recognized by any individual I tutor. In turn, I hope that this passion will influence the individual to become more interested in the subject. I feel this can be done much more on a one-on-one basis rather than a classroom setting of 35-40 other students.As a coach, I understand greatly the need to be on time for appointments. My philosophy is, if I'm five minutes early; I am five minutes late.

Creativity is the key to help get and keep the students motivated. If they are have trouble grasping a concept I will try to related it to something of interest and ask a lot of questions to try to get them to get the answer instead of me giving it to them. i find the this is more enjoyable and really boosts the students self esteem, which is a major part in their wanting to learn.I have home schooled my son, now 23, through all grades except pre-K, Kindergarten, 5th, 6th, and 7th grades. He is an intellectually challenged young man.

I am a Mechanical engineer major who is constantly working with math in all of my classes. That's why my proficiency in math is very good, and I know all the math all the way up to calculus. Also, I simply love all classes that involve any science, so my abilities in chemistry and physics are very good also. Furthermore, I am the person who is always explaining the concepts to my classmates before the test while studying. Since I have this ability, I see it as my duty to help not just my classmates but everyone succeed in these tough classes.

I believe I would be a good tutor for Grade Potential for several reasons. First, my beliefs about learning and education benefit students. I firmly believe that all students can learn and that each student learns in a different way. I see students as individuals and do my best to present the content in a way that fits their needs. Second, I am a very patient and kind person. My patience and caring personality make it easy for me to work well with students. Third, my educational background has given me thorough knowledge of subject matter and current educational research and learning theories. Fourth, I love working with and teaching students. Fifth, my academic success and success while student teaching, volunteering, and working demonstrate my ability to keep appointments, meet deadlines, work with individuals in a variety of settings, achieve goals, and be an overall responsible person.

I have experience as a classroom teacher to include mulitple grades. I also have experience as a tutor. I have experience with special needs students with an emphasis on science and math. I am trained in many different educational techniques to benefit all types of learning.I worked at Sylvan Learning Center for a total of 4 years in both Maryland and Louisiana. I also did private tutoring in Wisconsin for 2 years and I tutoted in homework support and basic math skills.

I believe that I would be a great tutor with Grade Potential because I love working with kids! I am very understanding and patient, and I am able to explain something in a different way if it does not make sense to someone the first time I explain it. I am a person who does not give up easily, and I am very encouraging to people I am teaching and working with. I feel confident about knowing the materials that I would be teaching because I have always worked hard in school and enjoyed learning. I have held several jobs in my life, including a retail job while I was in college and during my credential program. Even though school kept me very busy, I always scheduled my time so that I could make it to school and work on time. Another reason I would be reliable while working for Grade Potential is that I think it is rewarding to help kids understand a concept that they are struggling with, so being able to do that on a daily basis would be very motivating to me.
