The region of Georgia that is now Peachtree Corners has an interesting history. Before white men were allowed to settle in this area, this western portion of Gwinnett County was considered to be Native American land, primarily belonging to Cherokee and Creek tribes. Despite it being against the law to settle here, several white farmers began developing small parcels of land. Beginning to develop as a quiet farming community in the early 1900s, Peachtree Corners was very rural and remained quite undeveloped. In the 1960s, the idea to establish a planned community in the area was proposed, and plans for a residential development began.

Along with planned residential developments in the community, Peachtree Corners also contained developments for many businesses in the technology and engineering industries. A business center in Peachtree Corners provides jobs for many Peachtree Corners residents. Corporations and businesses located in the business center include GE, Hayes Microcomputer Products, and other successful tech businesses.

Many parks within the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area are located here in Peachtree Corners, and provide well-maintained areas for families to get out and enjoy nature. Jones Bridge Park, Holcomb Bridge Park, and Simpsonwood Park are all among the parks and natural spaces that belong to the community of Peachtree Commons.

When it comes to the arts community, Peachtree Corners has a lot to offer its residents. The city is home to the R Alexander Fine Art Gallery, which features a wide variety of art styles and mediums. Exhibitions are open regularly to the public, and many events are hosted here throughout the year. Locals love the “Art and Cocktails in the Garden” events that are hosted regularly, providing a social time for both artists and art enthusiasts of Peachtree Corners.

With its focus on developing the musical skills and music education of its youth, Peachtree Corners is home to Camp Jam, a favorite among local teens.
