Milpitas is home to one of the biggest shopping centers in America. At one time it was considered to be the largest mall in Northern California. It is called “The Great Mall of America”; and housed within it, there is almost one and a half million square feet of rentable space. Some but not all of the shops are outlets, yet it still is considered the largest outlet mall in Northern California.
Milpitas tutors rave about the large selection of stores that are found within the mall. The mall is also the location of a twenty-theater cinema “Century Theatres multiplex.” It also has, as well as the retail stores, a food court and other eateries and coffee shops. It is a popular recreational destination for those who reside within Milpitas, and popular among bargain hunters as it also has several outlet stores within the complex.
Whereas many malls are built over multiple stories or floors, “The Great Mall of America” is a single story building, which makes it very unusual. In a previous lifetime the mall was actually the building that belonged to a Ford automobile assembly plant. The “Ford Motor Company San Jose Assembly Plant” was also a huge employer for residents of Milpitas up until it closed in 1983. Milpitas tutors site the increasing popularity of Japanese automobiles for the reduction in popularity of Ford. Many models of Ford car were assembled over the thirty plus years the plant supported the community of Milpitas; including the Ford “Montego” and “Lynx” and perhaps the better known “Ford Mustang” and “Ford Escort”. There is a plaque within that commemorates the buildings original purpose on display within the mall.
According to Milpitas tutors “The Great Mall of America” attracts shoppers from all of the nearby cities and is a major part of the employment structure of Milpitas residents. What lends itself to the malls popularity, is not only the vast amount of stores and ability to pick up everything you need in one stop, but also the ease of accessibility to get to the mall. It is located where Great Mall Parkway intersects the Montague Expressway, so travel by car is a great option for visiting the mall. Alternatively as the mall is located near the “Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority’s Great Mall Transit Center”, it is easy to take advantage of the public transport infrastructure in place. There are multiple bus routes and train routes (through Milpitas Station) that make accessing the mall a breeze.

Families share goals and scheduling preferences through a short intake. That information becomes a learner profile. Grade Potential then introduces your profile to a professional independent tutor whose background aligns. Once the tutor accepts, you’re introduced directly and sessions can begin.
Our packages are highly customizable based on your budget, preferred session cadence, time frame, location, and a few other factors. You’ll be presented with clear pricing before you begin. We support families in choosing the session length and cadence that works best for their individual situation; no hard sales tactics and no obligation to purchase a long-term package.
Typically within 2-3 business days, depending on subject, location, and schedule availability. Urgent timelines are noted in your profile so introductions prioritize your timing.
In-person at home or another convenient, quiet, safe location (like the local library). When families need flexibility, online sessions are also available.
Experienced, professional independent tutors with strong subject knowledge and a track record of working one-on-one with students. Many hold degrees in their fields; some are certified teachers or graduate students with specialized expertise.
Yes—safety is our top priority. Tutors complete screening through Simpliverified background checks, consistent with local requirements and platform standards.

Support spans elementary through college across all core subjects (math, reading, writing, science, languages) plus test prep (e.g., SAT/ACT, AP, GRE) and many electives. If it’s taught in school, there’s likely a tutor with relevant experience. Adult learners can also benefit from tutoring services in a wide variety of subjects.
Most families choose 60-90 minute sessions 1-2 times per week. Cadence and length are set directly with the tutor to fit the student’s goals, pace, and schedule.
