    About Cupertino

Nowadays most people have at least heard of the city of Cupertino, because its weather is a default setting on a new “iPhone” smartphone. The manufacturers of the “iPhone,” “Apple Inc” are headquartered in Cupertino. Cupertino tutors note that there are many documentaries, articles and movies that have been written about the enormity of the success of Apple and its founders Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne.

Apple came into being at the end of the 1970s, and became publicly traded in the 1980s. It was one of the first companies to create computers, and since its inception has been a front-runner in the development of new technology and user-friendly interfaces. Apple certainly hit a few stumbling blocks throughout its growth including loosing Steve Jobs who went to set up his own company. Realizing how much they needed him onboard, Apple bought out Steve Jobs’ “new” company in order to get his expertise back. Another issue, according to Cupertino tutor's was the price of their units; due to expensive components and extensive research and development. This led to a hefty price tag when the products eventually hit the marketplace. Due to differing brands aligning themselves together, Apple also had limited access to software. One of their competitors’ biggest advantages was that they were sold with the very popular (to this day)”Microsoft Windows” software. When Jobs rejoined the team, his first order of business was to acquire and expand Apple’s software portfolio. He also set about opening Apple retail stores, which has successfully increased consumer confidence and popularity in the brand. The next step, which Jobs spearheaded, was to grow beyond just creating computers. The company, moved towards consumer electronics as a whole instead of simply specializing in computers. This move was marked by a name change of the company from its original “Apple Computer, Inc.” to “Apple Inc.” as we know it today.

One of Apple’s most popular and successful pieces of ‘consumer electronics’ is their smartphone. First released onto the market in 2007, it blew people away with its innovative touch screen technology. Prior to the “iPhone’s” arrival on the market, mobile phones, like their landline predecessors, had an individual button assigned to each number. When consumers saw the touch-screen “virtual keyboard” interface of the “iPhone” there were mixed reactions, some people genuinely weren’t sure if they could adapt and easily use a phone that had only one button. The phone was no longer just a phone from this point onwards, now you could do a number of different things on your phone, which had not been possible before. The “iPhone” is a camera, a video recorder, a calculator, an mp3 player, can send and receive email messages, can send and receive text messages and through downloading apps is a video game console and so much more.
