About Mechanicsville

Mechanicsville is a medium-sized town in the eastern central region of the beautiful state of Virginia. Not only is this town beautiful, it is rich in history. Not far from Virginia’s capital city, Richmond, Mechanicsville’s residents enjoy having easy access to all of Richmond’s big city amenities, including more job opportunities. Because of the easy distance, many residents of Mechanicsville commute to Richmond every day for work. Whether you are a resident or just passing through, Mechanicsville is a charming town with a lot to offer.

With a history that dates back to the 1600s, Mechanicsville has a number of historical sites, old historical buildings, and monuments. The Rural Plains house is a beautiful, old building that was once called the Shelton House. It is protected by the National Park Service and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A large, interesting and unique stone windmill is another historic place of interest in Mechanicsville, though it has only been around since the late 1900s. Though this windmill is not functional and is purely ornamental, it still attracts a fair amount of tourists looking for a good photo opportunity. Many of Mechanicsville’s other historical sites are directly connected to the American Civil War, including battlefields and old Civil War buildings.

The local parks and recreation department that takes care of Mechanicsville’s outdoor space does a particularly good job, and families love enjoying the local parks and natural trails around this area. There are always fun places to go outdoors, with several beautiful parks, athletic fields, and playgrounds for kids of all ages to enjoy.

When it comes to education, Mechanicsville provides a wide variety of options for local students. Parents feel that the education available to their children in Mechanicsville is of high quality, and the fact that Richmond is just a short drive away also provides local students with access to many other educational resources. Public elementary schools, public middle schools, and public high schools, along with a number of private schools and charter schools, are all available. No matter which school a student attends, there are local Mechanicsville tutors available to help students in a wide variety of subjects and grade levels. These local tutors can meet with each student, one-on-one, to help them work on any problem areas, including the development of study skills. With the help of these local tutors, Mechanicsville students have the opportunity to go farther in their education and reach their personal educational goals.
