Along the beautiful Appomattox River in the gorgeous state of Virginia, the city of Petersburg flourishes and stands alone with a unique history and a diverse population. Only a short drive south from the Virginia state capital of Richmond, Petersburg is a medium-sized city with a lot to offer both residents and tourists alike.
Because of its location along the great Appomattox River, Petersburg has always had access to great transportation of goods and services. A strategic place to build industry, especially in the early United States, Petersburg was a center for commercial activities. Once railroads were build in the early 1800s, Petersburg became an even bigger transportation center in Virginia. For this reason, during the Civil War, Petersburg was a very strategic city to gain control of, and General Grant set his sights on taking Petersburg, especially since it was so close to the Confederate headquarters in nearby Richmond. Throughout the city of Petersburg, tourists come to see various historical landmarks, some of which are from the Civil War events that took place here. The Petersburg National Battlefield has been declared a national monument, and has been preserved for tourists to come and observe.
Besides its deep history in the American Civil War, Petersburg holds an important place in African-American historical events. Not only are there two churches in Petersburg that are cited to be the two oldest African-American congregations in the entire nation, but Petersburg is also where one of the first African-American free settlements was located during a time of slavery and persecution. Local Petersburg citizens take pride in these civil rights roots.
To this day, Petersburg is a huge center for transportation and travel in the state of Virginia. Large highways and big railroad stations keep people coming and going through this area, including an Amtrak station and several other rail systems.
Petersburg is a great city to live in for art enthusiasts. The local Arts League is active in creating galleries and art installations throughout the community, and the Petersburg Professional Theatre for the Community provides plenty of local entertainment. Every month on the second Friday, Petersburg hosts an event that they call “Friday of the Arts”, which displays art by local artists with free concerts by local musicians and singers.
There are many schools available to Petersburg students, with public, private, and charter school options. A number of specialized schools are available as well, with options in the arts and technology industries. For students of any local school that need extra help, local Petersburg tutors are a great option. These local tutors can help each student work towards reaching their personal educational goals.

Our packages are highly customizable based on your budget, preferred session cadence, time frame, location, and a few other factors. You’ll be presented with clear pricing before you begin. We support families in choosing the session length and cadence that works best for their individual situation; no hard sales tactics and no obligation to purchase a long-term package.
