Find a Local Tutor Who Gets It

I would be a good tutor because I have a passion for education. I plan to become a teacher after graduating college and understand the importance of a good education. I have experience as a tutor and feel as though I have a good understanding of how to work with strengths and weaknesses in order to help students fully understand the subject material. Coming from a family of business owners I have always been taught the value being a good employee. I have had a job since sixteen and consistently worked on being reliable, hardworking, and dependable. Overall, my passion for education, experience as a tutor, and outstanding work ethic will help me to be the best tutor possible.I am currently involved with a tutoring program at a local San Luis Obispo high school. I work one on one with different students and help them in any and all areas that they need. Through this program I have gained experience tutoring in algebra 1 and 2, US and world history, English composition, and physical science.

I believe that I will be a good tutor because I have experience in tutoring little kids. I have also been a teacher assistant in Sunday school for 4 years and have even taught classes. I know how to keep little kids focused and make them learn. I am also a very responsible person, i am sure that I will be very reliable because i try my best to make sure that I have nothing else going on when I need to complete my responsibilities. I am also a very determined person and try to persevere no matter how difficult the challenge is.

I have a few basic qualities that make me a prime candidate for being a tutor: I am only part-time employed and have time to work with students. My background as an experienced teacher allows me to see multiple perspectives in each student's situation to help them succeed. I am an intuitive people-person, quick to listen and patiently encourage students in their needs. I recognize that often confidence is at the heart of unsuccessful academics, but that the modern academic environment puts students under high-pressure to achieve. Understanding the system and how students can achieve using their potential makes me a great fit for tutoring and helping students.

I think that I would be a good tutor for Grade Potential because I really enjoy helping people. I have been involved in many community service programs such as Big Brothers, Big Sisters and Leo Club, I have coached many soccer teams and helped in schools such as Pacheco as well. While at Cal Poly, I played on the Women's soccer team. For this reason, a commitment to excellence and an understanding of the importance of reliability has been a huge part of my life. I have been on both sides of the tutoring relationship (organic chemistry was not my best subject and I received helped from a friend). I think that the experiences of helping others and being helped by others has influenced the way I think about learning/tutoring and the way I understand how important keeping an appointment is.

I am an enthusiastic person who loves to share knowledge with others. I know chemistry is not a popular subject but I have the patience and skill to pass on my knowledge to anyone, no matter what age. Cal Poly holds its students to high expectations and for good reason because I feel like I have actually learned the material rather than have it memorized and spitting it back on a single test and forgetting it forever.

I am extremely kind and have been told that I am great at explaining things and a great teacher. Patience is one of my strong suits, as well as the fact that I am a very understanding and compassionate person. While I love learning, teaching and helping other people learn is even more rewarding.I tutored freshmen, sophomores, and juniors on my sports teams throughout high school in a variety of subjects as they needed help in order to maintain or boost their GPA's

I would be a good tutor for Grad Potential because I have a lot of experience in math classes. Math makes sense to me and I want to be able to help other students that are struggling with the material to understand it. I am a good communicator and I enjoy helping people succeed with what is difficult for them. I do it through encouraging them, smiling, and helping them through it step by step. I feel like most students that need help with a subject just need extra time learning the material and another point of view on how to learn the material. I would show them how I would solve certain problems and share shortcuts I have learned to help them succeed in the class. I would help him/her understand his/her homework and then to problems and review for upcoming tests.

I would be a good tutor for Grade Potential because I enjoy working with students and am also very patient. Working at Math Enrichment, it was able to test my patience dealing with first and third graders, as I learned how to tolerate the students and provide for their needs. Attending Sylvan Learning Center growing up, I have experienced the tutoring environment and understand that tutors are there to help solve and explain the students' problems. I am also a reliable person in terms of keeping appointments and fulfilling commitments because this job is for the students' benefits and not mines. This job is aimed towards helping others succeed, and myself not being there will just stall these students' effort in reaching their fullest potential.
