I would be a good tutor for Grade Potential because I have the patience necessary to allow students find out how they can progress on their own by using the tools and tricks that I can give them. And, I have a sense of humor and find it easy to develop a rapport with the most reluctant student. I am capable of keeping appointments and fulfilling commitments to you and to my future students.As an aide I tutored English language learners who were from Mexico. I love doing this.

I believe that I am an excellent candidate for your tutoring program. I have varied experience as an elementary teaching, having taught kindergarten, second, fifth, and seventh grade. This experience provides me extensive knowledge of the curriculum, and teaching techniques to help individual children find success. I am passionate about helping children learn in the way that works best for them, and enjoy working in a one on one setting.I have tutored a few students individually, as well as done tutoring after school for my previous school district.

I remember what it was like to be a student struggling with a concept, and I vividly remember the teachers that helped me push through it. Remembering what it is like to be in the student's chair will greatly aid in relating to them and helping them to get results.I come from a family of teachers--family gatherings always involved my mother and aunts all talking about their various schools. I listened to the joys, the frustrations, and how they wished certain things had been different. My family drilled into me the merits of punctuality, reliability, and perseverance. I will always keep my appointments with students, knowing firsthand the frustration that comes with someone cancelling. I will also always be dedicated to the appointment at hand. Each student's education is important, and I will do everything in my power to help him or her succeed.

Aside from content knowledge, I think I would make a good tutor for the following reasons. I am a responsible young adult, I communicate my ideas enthusiastically and effectively, I am supportive and optimistic, and I am empathetic and patient. I enjoy interacting with people, and have a desire to help when I can. To me, a tutor should be able to guide a student and provide the extra attention and care they may require outside the classroom. As a tutor, I would provide my student with the tools they need to complete their work, gain a deeper understanding of the material they are working on, and feel confident solving future problems.

I would be an asset to Grade Potential because of my recent years of experience in tutoring, my academic success in writing, history, and literary analysis, and my drive to help students succeed by inspiring their enthusiasm for the subjects. My wife and I are home-owning residents of San Luis Obispo who want to remain here for the foreseeable future. I was a tutor and mentor for a program at UCLA for the Early Academic Outreach Program. This consisted of mostly tutoring in math during the school day. The student ranged from 9th to 11th graders. I was a tutor specifically at Crenshaw High School and Dorsey High School in the inner city of Los Angeles. I also briefly was a mentor and tutor for a couple months at the Black Males Academy. The subjects ranged from English and Math up to Algebra one. The age range for the students I mentored and tutored were from age 6 to age 17.

I have worked in the not for profit sector for a few years and this is right up my alley. I am dedicated, hard working and I will not let my students fail. I love teaching. I love finding creative ways to present information until I see my student's face light up with understanding. I have taught piano lessons for over 10 years, giving me a broad exposure to various learning styles and abilities.
