As a physics major, we're taught to approach material from a deeply analytical perspective; in essence, we are taught to pursue a deep understanding of our subject (and any subject, for that matter). When I tutor, I try to teach my students that getting the answer isn't the important part; it's learning how to solve the problem that is vital. Once students understand the steps needed to reach an answer, they can begin to study effectively on their own, and, hopefully, achieve academic success.This is my philosophy towards studying, and I believe it is effective not only for long-term retention of material, but a better intuition for a course's subject matter.As for my reliability, I am timely and take my work seriously. Furthermore, I believe that an educator owes it to their pupils to be timely and prepared: after all, they're trusting you with their future!

I would be a great tutor for Grade Potential because I am someone who understands the value of putting in hard work in order to truly comprehend the material at hand. I have had to work very hard to earn the grades that I have, and I am eager to share these techniques and subject knowledge with others. I am a very social person, and would feel comfortable tutoring at all levels. I would be reliable because I have a deep sense of respect for others and would make sure that I never let them down by missing an appointment or arriving late.

I have several years experience working with disabled individuals, therefore, I am very patient and creative with teaching. I am always punctual and thorough with my paperwork duties and have always been reliable in terms of attendance at past jobs.I have tutored first and seventh grade students in Language Arts. All 3 of my students were ESL learners from Egypt and I found the experience to be very rewarding.

I feel that I have had the opportunity to receive a great education both as a minor, as well as at UCSB and various community colleges. I am eager to pass on what I have learned, and have done so successfully in many occasions. I am a very good communicator and am recognized for my skill to translate concepts into an understandable format for whomever I speak with or tutor. It is very important to me to be understood, so I work hard to make sure what I am saying is conveyed properly. But, as a good communicator, I am also a good listener, which allows me to understand where difficulties lie as others grasp to conceptualize the topics discussed. I believe my earning the rank of Eagle Scout speaks volumes about my communication skills as well as my reliability and punctuality amongst other values. I despise being late, so always make my biggest effort to be on time for all of my commitments.

Throughout my life I have had to be reliable about time management. Being a student-athlete at a high level has developed me to be accountable to others and to myself. The worst thing you can do again at that level is letting other people down. Preparation is a critical element to success and I would not go into a situation unprepared. My expectations of the students who I would tutor is they should be able to teach the material back to their instructor or peers after completing out meetings.The past couple of years have given me valuable experiences in helping tutor others in Germany to learn English. Both terms I spent overseas, I had the opportunity to spend time tutoring and coaching individuals of all ages inside and outside the classroom. From this experience and others throughout my life, I feel comfortable approaching and assisting any individual in any neighborhood. One of the many blessings of immersing yourself in discomfort is you are forced to discover new and old methods of connecting with people from all walks of life.

I am a very helpful, patient person. I am a Mechanical Engineering major in my junior year at Cal Poly. I'm a whiz with math and science subjects and an very good at teaching complex mechanical subjects in a way that non-mechanical people can understand. I also have a strong English/writing background.

I am reliable, dependable and I love working with students. Whether whole class, small group, or one-on-one, I greatly enjoy being a part of the students' academic success. The best part of what I do is watching their faces light up when the information in their head "clicks" and seeing them gain the confidence to tackle problems or tasks on their own.

I feel that the most important job of any tutor goes beyond simply regurgitating classroom material. An effective tutor helps his student(s) achieve their personal "aha moment" in which all the information becomes clear and pertinent. I myself, was tutored as a child and understand how difficult it is to learn when a teacher simply wants to "get through" the session. Currently, I am 2nd year student with 3rd year standing at the University of California, Santa Barbara pursuing a degree in Actuarial Science. Math is the basis of my major and I am presently enrolled in integral calculus. I understand that mathematics can be hard to conceptualize for some and I have a vested interest in making it more clear for students to understand. Reliability is a trait that can only be proven, however I understand the importance of being punctual, cordial, and helpful. I keep a very tight schedule, and do not skip classes in college for any reason. With that being said, I am free to tutor any day or time I am not in a lecture.
