Find a Local Tutor Who Gets It

I believe that I would be a great member of the team because I absolutely love and enjoy helping others learn. I believe that learning is one of the most beautiful parts of life and I would love to be a part of other's learning experience. Not only will I strive to do my best in helping the student learn the subject, but I will try even harder to help the student enjoy the subject. I will always keep up with my appointments and I will never take on more than I could handle in order to avoid not fulfilling the commitments I make. I am a very responsible young adult who takes work very seriously. I have a job back at home at an outlet store and I have always striven to be a hard worker. My managers still request me to go back when I am home for weekends and holidays. On top of that, I never missed a single day of high school which shows how reliable I am.

I really enjoy helping others succeed. I have always strived in study group situations helping my fellow classmates, and also if a friend is struggling in a class, I always offer my help. Teaching others requires a full knowledge of the subject matter which also helps me with keeping important information fresh. As for reliability, I am not one to make excuses. I am very adamant about being on time for commitments that I make and also for following through with those commitments.

I have a quiet demeanor and listen well. I am able to establish a positive rapport with students and families in a timely manner. I can use informal learning style assessments to focus study techniques. I would review materials beforehand to ascertain tutoring sessions are focused. As far as reliability, I have always met obligations with ieps and the like, both writing and implementing.I have tutored students that were in a home hospital program due to medical or psychiatric needs, K-12.

I have learned that teaching requires more than simply presenting the material to someone. It requires having a conversation, asking good questions, and really getting to know a student in order to help them find their own understanding of the material. I find it very rewarding to help students along and make their school experience a little easier. I strive to be very patient and encouraging, because I know firsthand that new classes are intimidating, and I want students to feel they have support and won't be judged. I am very dependable, I use Google Calendar to make sure I can keep all my commitments.

I think I would be a good tutor for Grade Potential because I truly understand the importance of education, and in addressing a variety of methods in order for a student to effectively learn something! Sometimes the traditional method of a teacher instructing many pupils in a classroom may not be the most effective, and I want to take on the challenge of finding out a personalized way for the student to effectively learn. I also feel that I am a reliable person, and can always follow through when someone is depending on me, especially for something as important as someone's education. I believe in working to make a difference, and if that means helping someone expand themselves intellectually, then I want to help make that happen.I have taught English as a Second Language at the SBCC Kaplan Center to students of many cultural backgrounds, including Japanese, Korean, Brazilian, and more. I have also taught music theory, vocal technique, and performance technique to both college and high school age students.

I am a dedicated, motivated and organized student. I receive good grades and have received excellent grades on standardized test all throughout high school. I received a 2130 on the SAT (Math - 610, Reading - 720, Writing 800) and 5's on the AP European History Test, AP US Test and AP English Language Test. I also have experience tutoring elementary school children as well as a high school student in all different areas, including English, Language Arts, Reading Comprehension, Writing and Math. I am a very dedicated student myself, and thus have developed methods that help me understand information efficiently and thoroughly. I am able to relay my study tips and habits to other students, and help them learn ways to improve their understanding of the material, as well as how to complete their assignments efficiently and do well on tests. I am a reliable person as well. I always have my phone on me and am quick to reply to phone calls, text messages and emails. I take any job I have seriously and fulfill commitments, and communicate well with others regarding the availability of my schedule. I am also very organized, and therefore am responsible about keeping the commitments I make to both Grade Potential and my students.

I have worked in and around groups of children ranging from first grade to seniors in High School at the various Outdoor Education Camps I have worked at over the years. I have also worked in the classroom at a Montessori Classroom as a teachers Assistant for 4 years. My total time working with children is over 10 years of experience. I am patient, reliable, flexible, a hard worker, can work well in a group and solo and can adapt to the environment. I was a hard student growing up and lived around teachers and will be a student of life myself as long as I can.

I would definitely be a good fit for Grade Potential, I have experience tutoring kids and they seem to like me and my methods - and I have enjoyed teaching. I am young (by teaching standards) so I can relate to the kids on a more personal level, which in my experience seems to build credibility among the kids I have tutored. I always see commitments 100% of the way through, and will be punctual and attentive when my services are required.
