Find a Local Tutor Who Gets It

Over the past three years, I have taught nearly 20 classes at multiple community colleges. During this time, I've continued to work at Grossmont College's English Writing Center for twenty hours a week. In this position, I meet individually with students to help them with any issues they are struggling with in their essays, ranging from basic grammar to developing and structuring lengthy academic papers. As a teacher, my schedule is very flexible, as I spend many hours grading and developing plans outside of the classroom. Teaching upwards of 100 students at a time, I have learned to balance my time to remain reliable to my students and their various needs. In addition, I have experience with educating online, as I spent over one year writing curriculum and exams for Study.com for students to receive high school and college credits.

As a graduate student, it is important for me to be employed in high qualified positions that not only provide a financial support but also enrich my experience as a future professor. The experience of working with students from all ages and with different learning disabilities and different academic levels has broadened my horizons and perception in regards to education. I am a prepared, dedicated and patient person who is always willing to give that extra percent of the energy in order to get a task done. I have also experience in arts and theater for children, which is very important for my teaching style since students have a variety of learning processes and attention spans. Once detecting these, a good tutor can address them and facilitate the process of helping a student reach his or her academic goals.I will certainly be available for students and office work.

I would make a good tutor because of my calm and patient demeanor. I believe the ability to be patient and encouraging is key when trying to instruct and support a student. I also make it a point to be prompt and prepared for every shift I work. I am a very logical thinker who is detail oriented.

I am a good tutor because I have patience with my students. I understand how difficult it can be when you don't understand a subject. I struggled with math as a child and had a kind tutor who walked me through understanding this difficult subject. I have a passion for kids and want to help them gain clarity in the subjects that they have difficulty with.

I have been tutoring adults and children in all aspects of the English language, i.e., ESL learners, Grammar, Usage, Idioms, Reading Comprehension, Writing, etc. I have always been a man of my word and never shirk responsibility--I would ensure that I arrived on time and gave a good lesson. Finally, I love connecting with students and watching them progress in their use of the language.

I use to tutor peers in high school to pass English classes, English exams, an de the spanish AP test. I'm a native spanish speaker and a fluent English speaker. I learned English by the time I was 12 and I was in advanced classes by age 14. I also received a biliteracy diploma at graduation for completing AP English and AP Spanish classes in high school. I feel like I have first hand experience in what it's like to learn a second language and it gives me my teaching a unique angle.

I would be a good tutor because my goal right now in my life is to be both a scholar and a citizen. Helping students find clarity in their studies would be the best way that I could spend my time. I used to be an after school tutor back at my high school. In all I think i would be great to work with because I'm bright , optimistic, and helpful.

I have a great rapport with my students because I believe in student-centered learning. Any subject can be presented in a novel and creative way to create interest in the subject matter. I try to listen to my students so I can make the lesson interesting to them based upon their learning styles and preferences.
