I am an outstanding tutor because I love to help others learn and genuinely care for providing methods for students to learn the new or difficult material. I also have a very open and receptive mind which helps me use various methods to help students understand what I am teaching.

I'm patient as I group up with 2 siblings, so I've tutored them. I've tutored family friends' children as well as family members in college, my cousin went from a C- grade in English to an A- after a session with me. I'm friendly yet stern. As someone who has babysat for many years, I have already had experience tutoring kids. I think there's an Einstein quote about how if you can't explain something to a six year old, you don't understand it enough yourself. I agree with Einstein. A good tutor has extensive knowledge about what they are helping teach, but a great tutor knows the subject so well that they can explain it in terms that can make sense to anyone. I don't mean broad terms anyone can understand, I mean they can cater to each pupil and explain it in a way each individual will personally relate to. As a college student returning home for the summer, my only commitment this summer is to work as hard as possible until I return to school. It's important to me that the work I'm doing will help someone help themselves, rather than serve them unhealthy food or sell them movie tickets. The underlying altruism that comes with working as a tutor is the motivation I've been looking for that has been lacking in my other jobs.

I have taught English as a Second Language for more than 20 years in college and in some other institutions as well. I have taught both undergraduate and post graduate students. I am also an Episcopal priest and have taught Theological subjects as well. I am committed to my work and am used to getting involved with people.

I love to help people move toward reaching their full potential! It's amazing to see the "Aha!" moments light up eyes of any age. My communication skills are considered excellent and I value my natural ability to relate to people of varying ages and backgrounds. I spent 5 years at an elementary school helping both Special Needs kids and English Language Learners understand the curriculum and improve their overall comprehension of how to do to the work expected. During this time, I worked mainly with 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders and Common Core was being implemented the last two years of this particular work experience. I've often been told by those in the field that I would do well with college students because of my easy demeanor and ability to find common ground in order to relate to most people. And I hold my own in casual conversation with university professors! :)

In college, I worked with Southeast San Diego Tutors to tutor elementary school students and Varsity Tutors for ACT/ SAT prep. I received my multiple subject teaching credential at USD and have taught Kindergarten, 2nd, and 5th grade. I have extensive knowledge of the Common Core State Standards and of best practices for teaching them. I am also creative and energetic, and always work to make learning fun!

I am a good tutor because inspire confidence in my students while enforcing positive energy while they learn new and difficult topics. I worked as a student instructor for a business calculus class at Long Beach State University where I went to school. After that I traveled to Japan where I was an English teacher. I believe that my extensive experience as a tutor has enabled me to become a better teacher by being more effective at responding to different sorts of challenges that my students may face.

I would make a phenomenal tutor. I find great joy in helping others understand concepts and excel in school. I am very patient and am good at boosting others confidence levels. I have led countless study groups over the course of my life. I tutor my little, 12 year old, brother all the time. Lastly, I was a part of a program called "Study Buddies" where I was a tutor and role model for middle and elementary school kids. I will be reliable as I have reliable transportation, a house, and am willing to quit my current job to make this my primary focus for income. The only true assurance I can give is that I don't need this job. However, I enjoy teaching and helping others learn. Also, I very much enjoy research and learning myself which enforces my competence as a tutor since I would have no issue putting personal time and energy into reinforcing my own knowledge of subjects I my help others with.
