I would make a good tutor for Grade Potential because, I am patient I do not get frustrated when a student is unwilling or not understanding the topic in which we are studying. I am flexible in matching learning styles of the student I am working with at that time. I am courteous to parents and students. Also I am reliable and always keep appointments as they are scheduled.I have conducted one-on-one teaching in all areas of pre-k through 6th grade as a substitute and full-time Assistant for JCPS in Kentucky.

I really enjoy helping students personally to achieve their best. Having studied K-6 education at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, I feel highly confident I would make a good tutor for Grade Potential. I am knowledgeable in many subjects and I am good at explaining new lessons or reviewing material with children.

I would make a fantastic tutor at Grade Potential because I loved school and learned to enjoy studying, but I also have a passion for teaching and helping. I would be overjoyed to be able to assist a student struggling at a subject, and watch them succeed and become more confident in their coursework. I am also a very organized, positive, and responsible person and I do not make commitments lightly. I would be very devoted to my students, and I would hope to make their tutoring experience worth their while and ease their frustration over a subject.

I would be a good addition to your tutoring program because I have sufficient knowledge in several high school and college classes. I have not been out of college long, so the subject material is fresh in my mind. I really enjoy teaching others, especially about the subjects I am passionate about, such as Biology, Math and English. I have taught gymnastics to children and adults for over 10 years, so I am familiar with the different developmental stages and learning styles one could have. I am patient, punctual, reliable, thoughtful, and passionate. I care greatly about helping people reach their goals in the subject areas they aspire to be proficient in. I always arrive to my destinations early in order to prepare for what I am doing. I am friendly and personable, and have good communication skills for teaching. I am an active listener and think listening to the student's concerns and questions is a major part of being a great teacher. I am aware that every person learns differently, and would try my best to find the teaching style that most appropriately fit with the student's learning style.

The first reason I would make a great tutor is because I am very knowledgeable in the subjects I have listed above. A few of the courses I am currently enrolled in are Calculus 4(Math 241), Structures 2(ARCE 212) and a Waves/Optics/Thermal (PHYS 132) course, which proves I have already seen everything the prior courses will throw at you. My 4.0 GPA fall quarter allowed me to enter Cal Poly's Honors Society.Another reason I would be an effective tutor is because my three years of lifeguarding and swim instruction overlaps with tutoring. To teach a skill such as proper swimming, strokes have to be broken up. This idea is similar to tutoring because the only way a student will understand a complex problem is by first teaching him or her the basics and then by working with simpler problems of the same concept before tackling the complex problem.The last reason I would make a good tutor is because I understand the importance or reliability. Holding a job for the past three years has thought me the importance of showing up on time and fulfilling commitments. I also understand that if I for sure need to cancel an appointment, it is to be done so promptly and early so that a substitute can be found.

In my experience as a snowboard instructor, I have a lot of firsthand experience with what it takes to properly instruct students of all ages and skill levels. This being said, I have also tutored various friends and peers of all ages in various math and physics classes throughout high school and college. I am extremely capable of understanding the "road blocks" that students experience and at helping them overcome these obstacles.Because of my very math and physics based major and my involvement in a social and professional agricultural fraternity, I often find myself tutoring my peers in their various math and physics general education requirements. My peers find that my sessions are extremely helpful and absolutely aided them in succeeding in the class.

As stated in subjects that I am able to tutor, I have efficient ways of solving mathematic problems step-by-step that are simple to understand and flow from question to answer. I have never received a grade lower than A in any mathematics class Algebra through Calculus 3. I understand what it takes to fully learn and retain information and I am reliable when it comes to being on time and using time efficiently. I love working with kids, especially high school kids, and if he or she is willing to learn, I am willing to put in the effort to help. I find joy when I help others and love seeing the light bulb light up in a student's eye when I help he or she "get" it. I also understand that tutoring is not just teaching the student how to do a homework problem so they get their homework in on time, but that it includes the student retaining the information in order to remember the steps I taught and to repeat them on an exam in order to get a good grade!
