I would be a fantastic tutor because I love working with kids and helping. I enjoy passing on knowledge I have to benefit others, and I like keeping my mind thinking. By tutoring I retain all the information I have learned over the years and expand my knowledge as well. And what good would it all be if I didn't have anyone to share it with?I tutored privately for a few months in my senior year in the subjects of reading, 7th grade pre- algebra, and 9th grade algebra I.

I'm an enthusiastic teacher. I love explaining things and seeing the look people give when everything clicks into place. I have a lot of trouble turning down someone who asks for help, and a deep-seeded urge to help everything be the best it can. I love kids for their honesty, and for the challenge of making education entertaining while working with them. The word "Potential" in the company's name means so much, because kids (people in general, too), have greater capabilities than they normally realize. If I, as a person, can unlock someone's potential, and get them to realize these extended capabilities, that is supremely rewarding, and that is why I love this job.

I know the subject well, have decades of experience tutoring, specialize in empowering women and minorities about their math and science abilities (NO YOU ARE NOT DUMB!!!).I've been tutoring since 1979, as a high school student. I've been a teaching assistant and tutor at UCSB, tutored at De Anza College in Silicon Valley, help students at SBCC. Also was a "math coach" at Santa Barbara High School. I've also taught physics at Dos Pueblos High School, San Marcos High School, and Santa Barbara High School.

I consider myself as someone who is passionate about learning. I also know how frustrating it can be to struggle for hours on a difficult concept with seemingly no progress. To me, working with students to overcome obstacles in their coursework is very rewarding work.I began tutoring in the fall of 2007 when I had the opportunity to work with Upward Bound, where I worked with high school students from disadvantaged backgrounds to give them a better chance of attending college. That only lasted for a semester however, as I transferred to Michigan State University in the Spring of 2008 where I completed my degree. Throughout my time at MSU I tutored college students; mostly in gen chem and biology, but also occasionally in algebra, calculus 1, and organic chem.

I am widely educated, with broad subject matter knowledge. I am patient (ask anyone). I am focused when I am working, and efficient at cutting through nonsense to transmit important information. I am a good copy-editor and writer. I have wide experience with ethnicities, having grown up overseas in foreign countries. I will personally see to it that my student learns and improves in his or her subject. I will bring the material and the knowledge out of the student so that they are gaining understanding and knowledge.I was a private tutor for a junior high school student while I was in college. Upon graduating, I was also a teacher/tutor in New York for five students who needed instruction in Math and English.

I aspire to be a teacher one day, and hopefully to be one at many levels. I truly enjoy the academic atmosphere, whether it be with a group of people or with a few. I believe that I have the patience and dedication to help anyone in need of academic aid, no matter what the problem. Especially when it comes to physics and math, I believe that I can help most people with their questions.
