I am a leader in every aspect of my life and I believe I have what it takes to be a tutor for Grade Potential. I am a very fast learner, I truly enjoying teaching and helping students, and I would give 100 % of my attention, effort, and devotion to each student I may potentially work with. I am a very social person, I believe face-to-face interaction is essential and that it is important to treat each person the way I would want to treated. I live by the golden rule as well as my fathers two word phrase of "never surrender". I believe each child has the potential to make a difference and that it is up to their leaders, role models, teachers, and parents to shape their aspirations and appreciate their creativity. I am working towards applying for Teach For America and I believe Grade Potential will be great experience for my goals.

I went to french school for seven years, so I am completely bilingual in french. I also lived in Cuba for three years, so I am fluent in Spanish. The reason I wanted to get back into tutoring is because I love kids, and I feel comfortable with the subjects I'll be teaching. I can't wait to start! :)

I have 4 years of teaching experience in the Los Angeles Unified School District as a Spanish/ESL teacher. I taught at Mt. Vernon Middle School and also taught Spanish in a summer program in Franklin, MA.I enjoy working with students in need of remedial work as well as enrichment..I have done Private Tutoring in Spanish/ESL for grades 7-12 over a 10 year period of time in classroom settings as well as individual private homes.

I am in the process of applying to grad schools, as I would like to earn a Multiple-Subject Teaching Credential and a Master's degree in Education. I have always had a passion for teaching and have helped students of all ages learn, from teaching my one-year-old goddaughter words in Spanish (while English is the only language spoken in her home) to helping older family friends with learning English as a second language. I am very patient and have a knack for explaining a concept in different manners until the student grasps it.

As a firm believer in the power of education, I feel that it is my responsibility to help educate those desiring to improve their skills and expand their knowledge. I feel that only through education can people realize their inner potential to change the world for the better. With a higher education comes a wider plain of opportunity, and with more opportunities comes less crime, less poverty, and less anxiety. I hope that through Grade Potential I can help individuals reach their goals and achieve a greater level of success.From June 31 2008 to August 19 2008, I taught English to a wide range of students at the Peace Village in Hanoi, Vietnam who were effected internally and externally by Agent Orange. Although I do not speak Vietnamese, it was an extraordinary experience, and I found myself connecting with the kids on a level beyond the ABCs.Although I love working with youths, I have also assisted my peers at UCSB with their writing skills. I have edited papers and given tips for a variety of classes.

I believe I will be an excellent tutor because I truly desire to see people learn and succeed. Not only do I love learning, but I also enjoy helping people. I also would love to become a professor one day, and I believe that I will earn valuable experience tutoring for Grade Potential. I intend to work with the students to determine their preferences, strengths, and weaknesses to most effectively help them learn the subject. Finally, at all times, I will remain a professional and courteous representative of Grade Potential.

I know I'm a great tutor because I'm truly passionate about the things I do. It really feels good inside to help someone succeed. It doesn't really feel like a job to me, because I really care about the students I work with. I want them to reach their goals in life. Besides, when you teach someone it helps sharpen your own skills at that subject. I'm a total student of life itself. The other reason I know I will be a good tutor for Grade Potential is because I'm great with people. I'm 100% a people person. I love working with kids and teens a lot. Children actually are my strong point. I know how to keep their interest, because of my outgoing personality.

I am a fully credentialed teacher who is bilingual in Spanish. I taught for 8 years in a full-bilingual classroom and now teach in an English Immersion classroom. I am a master teacher guiding a student teacher from CSUN this year. I have always taught above and beyond my assigned classroom teaching. I have consistantly taught in after school programs, summer school programs, and even Saturday school programs. Now that those have been cancelled I am eager to begin the tutoring experience!When I was teaching in Boyle Heights, a tutoring company called Sylvan at School came to our campus after school and I taught for them. I taught a small group of fifth grade students who were glad to work overtime to better their skills. I really enjoyed working with them as a few were my former first grade students and I was so proud of their determination to succeed.
