Daly City is located in the San Francisco Bay Area, within the county of San Mateo, in northern California. Because it is located just south of the Golden Gate city, Daly City is home to many people who commute into San Francisco for work each day, and that makes it a very desirable place to live. Families love living here in Daly City because the quality of life is high, and residents have access to great local amenities. Living anywhere in the Bay Area affords residents all kinds of opportunities, and Daly City is no different.
The story of how Daly City came to be is an interesting one. It all began back when the huge and devastating San Francisco earthquake struck the city at the beginning of the 20th century. Many San Francisco citizens were displaced, having lost everything to the fire and destruction that resulted from this huge earthquake. A local landowner and businessman, John Daly, owned a local dairy farm and a large plot of land outside the city of San Francisco. He opened up his land to those that had lost their homes, and provided food and supplies for those who had lost everything. Many people ended up purchasing land and setting up neighborhoods thanks to John Daly’s generosity, kindness, and savvy business tactics, and soon enough a small community was formed. Locals opposed being swallowed up by nearby San Francisco, so they fought to be named their own city — Daly City.
Considered to be a fairly small, tight-knit community, Daly City remained that way until the middle of the 1900s. At this point in time, several shopping centers and developments popped up within Daly City, attracting new business and interest to the area. Many families began moving here, as its location to San Francisco was very convenient, and yet they could still enjoy life in a smaller city.
One large local attraction here in Daly City is the Cow Palace. No, it’s not a palace for Cows — it’s actually an arena that has hosted a wide variety of concerts and performances, including many big names. The Cow Palace has really put Daly City on the map and brings in a good amount of revenue to the city throughout the year. From sports to music, this venue is one of the most famous in all of California.
Daly City is known for its high quality Parks and Recreation Department, and not only for the beautiful and well-kept local parks. The Daly City Parks and Recreation Department does a great job to provide a wide variety of classes, programs, and sports teams for residents to join and enjoy. It goes beyond that, too, with many local community events and special festivals, and families love living in Daly City for this reason.
When it comes to education, Daly City has a great variety of options for local students. Served by several local public school districts, parents have a great amount of choices in choosing the right option for their child, including private school and charter school options. For students of any level that need extra help, local Daly City tutors are available. These local tutors can meet with each student one-on-one and help them reach their educational goals.

Families share goals and scheduling preferences through a short intake. That information becomes a learner profile. Grade Potential then introduces your profile to a professional independent tutor whose background aligns. Once the tutor accepts, you’re introduced directly and sessions can begin.
Our packages are highly customizable based on your budget, preferred session cadence, time frame, location, and a few other factors. You’ll be presented with clear pricing before you begin. We support families in choosing the session length and cadence that works best for their individual situation; no hard sales tactics and no obligation to purchase a long-term package.
Typically within 2-3 business days, depending on subject, location, and schedule availability. Urgent timelines are noted in your profile so introductions prioritize your timing.
In-person at home or another convenient, quiet, safe location (like the local library). When families need flexibility, online sessions are also available.
Experienced, professional independent tutors with strong subject knowledge and a track record of working one-on-one with students. Many hold degrees in their fields; some are certified teachers or graduate students with specialized expertise.
