I am a dedicated person who is very good at relaying information that I have learned. If I come across a topic or subject that I do not feel a hundred percent on I will research it to get myself to the ultimate knowledge so that I can help teach my student the information that they need to be successful.

I am deeply passionate about education and furthering a love of learning. I believe that everyone learns in a variety of different ways and I am able to cater to their distinct educational needs. In the past, I have taught meiosis through song, in order to cater to musical learners, and through physical hands-on activities, in order to cater to kinesthetic learners. I have no problem making practice-problems on the spot to ensure that the student truly understands the material being taught. Often, I try to incorporate relevant, interesting facts or practice problems that correspond to the lesson in order to increase my students’ interest in the topic and their ability to remember it in the future. I am patient and able to explain the topic in a variety of different ways. Having been well trained in a variety of different teaching methods, such as task analysis (breaking material down into easy to understand steps) and Costa’s level of questions, I am able to simplify the lesson for students to understand, but also push them to analyze the material and reach a level of higher order thinking. I am determined to have the student be confident in the material by the time that I have left the tutoring session; if the student has any further questions, I will be happy to stay behind and clarify them, or I can be reached by phone or Skype at any time. I am willing to be readily available for my student, because I understand that they are paying good money for my time and services. Having taught before, I understand that punctuality and organization are extremely important aspects of the job. I am representing Grade Potential as a tutor, and will always leave early in order to meet my tutee on time and come prepared with the necessary materials to best help him or her. I am a dependable, responsible, and organized person. This past summer, as a teacher, I needed to arrive at school on time in order to attend early morning meetings and greet my students as they came on campus. In addition, I had to stay organized and plan my lessons ahead of time (for my mentor teacher to approve of the lesson), arrive to class with the proper handouts and homework, and grade homework, quizzes, or tests to return to students the next day; this required extreme time management and an ability to get things done ahead of time. I was able to successfully accomplish all of these tasks and thus, was a reliable employee for Breakthrough Collaborative.

I am a strong educator that is very knowledgeable as well as reliable. I chose this profession because I wanted to make a difference in the community. I believe that I am patient and am good at coming up with strategies that not only assist students within the tutoring session, but that can be taken back into the classroom to assist students with retention and learning. I absolutely enjoy watching students grow over a period of time and I believe that tutoring is the perfect setting to see students grow and achieve their goals.

Many students and even teachers can be excellent learners and even retainers of knowledge but to reteach it in new and exciting ways and from many different angles for varying students takes an entirely new level of patience, flexibility, and understanding not only of the material but of the student you are working with. I strongly believe what makes me such a good tutor is my absolute love for what I am teaching, especially that of math and chemistry. First off I believe what makes me understand it so well it that I have such a passion for it. Mathematics and chemistry are so interesting because they never lie. "I" comes before "e" with some exceptions but trig, algebra, and calculus all prove each other at one point and soap dissolves grease for a reason and it is SO AMAZING and cool when something finally "clicks". Not only can I help out those in need but, like a fix (if you will) for this click it is even more amazing to see it in kids eyes who themselves may not have experienced this. One of the greatest loves I have found in tutoring is not only achieving better grades with my students but seeing them find a love for things they never knew they could even like. I am also very organized and keep my time very managed so I doubt that misplacing or forgetting about a lesson would be much of a problem. Also "flakiness," as my family calls it, is one of my absolute pet peeves. It is one thing to overcommit but to commit to someone, especially a student reaching out for help, and then fall through is absolutely unacceptable and quite honestly, unforgivable.

I love teaching, but I especially love the one-on-one aspect of tutoring, when every part of the teaching can be focused on that specific student's needs and interests. I also have experience from SCORE in communicating with the parents on their child's progress and what they can do to further help the student. I believe that making a commitment is no light matter and must be honored, and that consistency is crucial for the student's learning. Although I try to make use of public transportation, I do also have a reliable car for whenever necessaryPrivate Tutoring in math, English and test prep, including for special needs students. I have prior experience that has raised student's grades. I have taught many of the subjects I am proficient in to my 5 younger brothers, as well as in paid tutoring sessions. I am extremely reliable and never show up late to work. I am very dedicated to my work and fully accomplish all of my goals and tasks that I set for myself. I am an eagle scout which shows the time and effort I put into the work that I do.I have prior tutoring experience. I have always considered being a teacher professionally and tutoring seems like a great place to start. Throughout school I continually helped my friends would struggled with certain classes and most of them really like my teaching style and the clear and concise ways that I could explain the topics to them. I am hard working and personable guy that I feel most people can relate to.

I've been learning Spanish for nine years and it is the core of my major. I recently studied abroad in Bilbao, Spain and have an increased understanding of the language due to my experiences there.I have tutored English as a second language in Spain to elementary students.
