Description
Laura is an enthusiastic and driven educator with a Master’s Degree in Human Performance and a Bachelor’s Degree in General Studies from Texas Southern University, along with an Associate’s Degree in Kinesiology from Mt. Sac Community College. She specializes in tutoring Reading and Writing for students from kindergarten through sixth grade, and Basic Math for those in kindergarten through third grade.
With extensive experience in both academic and athletic settings, Laura brings a dynamic approach to learning. As a Lead PE Instructor at REACH Leadership STEAM Academy, she plans and delivers curriculum-relevant physical activities for TK-6th graders, emphasizing safety and student performance. Her background as a Teacher Assistant at Altus Academy involved providing individualized and small-group tutoring, specifically helping students, including those with special education and behavioral needs, to master assignments and reinforce learning concepts.
Laura’s patience and ability to motivate students are further demonstrated through her coaching roles in track and field and cross country at various grade levels. She is currently student teaching P.E. and is fluent in both English and Spanish, allowing her to connect with a diverse range of families. Laura is dedicated to fostering both academic achievement and personal growth in her students.
