    About Sugar Hill

Listed as one of the top 25 suburbs of Atlanta, Sugar Hill, Georgia adopted its name when a railroad shipment of sugar spilled in the town’s station. Incorporated in 1939 the city is about 20-miles northeast from Atlanta on Interstate 85 and only minutes from sprawling Lake Lanier. Sugar Hill features several parks with pavilions, playgrounds and sports fields. The Bowl at Sugar Hill is a state of the art concert venue which features some of the top names in the music industry. The Bowl has 1,000 reserved theater seats among its 1,750-seat capacity. It hosts the annual Georgia Natives Music Festival in April. NerdWallet.com recently voted Sugar Hill the third most attractive Georgia city for young families, claiming the city “stands out for its superb educational system, unique location and recreational opportunities.”

Indeed, recreational opportunities in the greater Sugar Hill area abound. Ranked as one of the best things to do near Sugar Hill by Yelp.com, Treetop Quest in Buford is an adventure park featuring treetop obstacles which physically and mentally challenge visitors. Courses range from easy to difficult and the park has something for all age groups including Tarzan swings, tightropes, zip-lines and various other challenges. Skyzone, just south in Suwanee, is a trampoline park where guests can jump and “fly through the air” to their hearts content. Attractions include freestyle jump, skyslam, ultimate dodgeball and the foam zone. Adrenaline Climbing, also in Suwanee offers 12,500 feet of climbing surface with 80 different routes for those with Alpine skills. Perfect for beginners and experts alike, Adrenaline Climbing is family owned and committed to providing its climbers an outstanding experience in indoor climbing.

Lake Lanier, only minutes north from Sugar Hill, delivers several more options for recreation and family fun. A Sugar Hill tutor will get you ahead of the academic curve so you can enjoy the outdoor attractions in the local area. Lake Lanier Canopy Tours takes visitors high into the trees and even over the lake on zip lines. The adventure service has four different zip line tours including the Express Canopy Tour which only takes one hour and the Pine Isle Tour for more experienced adventurers. Lake Lanier’s website boasts that it is the most popular lake in the southeast with several million visitors each year. Popular activities at the lake include boating, fishing, camping and hiking. The lake also includes golf facilities and excellent areas for kayaking, water skiing and swimming. With 700 miles of shoreline Lake Lanier has 45 parks and 10 campgrounds with boat ramps, beaches, playgrounds and pavilions.

Since Sugar Hill is only about 20 miles from downtown Atlanta it is within easy reach of a wealth of activities in the big city. TripAdvisor.com ranks the Georgia Aquarium as one of the top things to do in Atlanta. The aquarium is the largest in the Western Hemisphere with over 10 million gallons of fresh and seawater housing thousands of species of marine life. One of the most popular attractions at the aquarium is the Dolphin Celebration which focuses on the beauty, intelligence and athleticism of the bottlenose dolphin.
