"We had a great experience working with our tutor, Danielle. She was wonderful, patient, kind, and always prepared. She even tailored lessons to Sofia's needs (and moods)."

Pelham Parkway is a sliver of a community carved out in the Bronx, and like other communities in the borough, enjoys a significantly diverse population, with ethnic demographics that vary widely from across the world. The smells of authentic foods from around the globe permeate the air in Pelham Parkway, and its residents live side-by-side in a way we would expect of a tight-knit, geographically small community. What visitors may not know about Pelham Parkway, however, are about the neighbors just on the other side of the community’s boundaries: these neighbors range across a diversity spectrum even more vast than Pelham itself. They include residents from every single continent of the United States, and vary in size from smaller than a human thumb to larger than a mid-size vehicle. Who are these interesting residents that live across the line to Pelham Parkway? The animals at the Bronx Zoo, of course.
The specimens at the Bronx Zoo have long attracted visitors to this unique metropolitan park, which is the largest in the United States to house animals. Since the late nineteenth century, the zoo has been involved in animal and land conservancy movements to protect endangered species, as well as provide residents and visitors alike with the opportunity to see animals they might never see anywhere else, especially in the wild.
In 2011, a venomous King Cobra escaped from the reptile house at the zoo and remained at large for five days. Zoo officials were confident they would recover the cobra, but in the interim, a parody Twitter account was set up for the cobra that detailed the imagined hijinks of the snake as he evaded capture. @BronxZooCobra declared he was “Holding very still at the snake exhibit in the Museum of Natural History. This is gonna be hilarious!” and said later he was “Getting my morning coffee at MudTruck. Don’t even talk to me until I’ve had my morning coffee. Seriously, don’t. I’m venomous.” This humorous take on the snake’s escape endured as an amusing Twitter account that still updates regularly to this day, imagining what the King Cobra would say from being back in his enclosure several years later. @BronxZooCobra currently has over 160,000 followers—many of them likely residents from Pelham Parkway. It’s unclear if he made a short trip to his neighbors, however, during his five days on the town.
Whether or not the Bronx Zoo Cobra paid a visit to Pelham Parkway, Grade Potential tutors are regular figures in this community. They may not have viral parody Twitter accounts, but they do have the smarts and dedication to serve the student populations of Pelham Parkway. Tutors in Pelham Parkway will come to you, or meet you halfway—sans venomous snake.

Families share goals and scheduling preferences through a short intake. That information becomes a learner profile. Grade Potential then introduces your profile to a professional independent tutor whose background aligns. Once the tutor accepts, you’re introduced directly and sessions can begin.
Our packages are highly customizable based on your budget, preferred session cadence, time frame, location, and a few other factors. You’ll be presented with clear pricing before you begin. We support families in choosing the session length and cadence that works best for their individual situation; no hard sales tactics and no obligation to purchase a long-term package.
Typically within 2-3 business days, depending on subject, location, and schedule availability. Urgent timelines are noted in your profile so introductions prioritize your timing.
In-person at home or another convenient, quiet, safe location (like the local library). When families need flexibility, online sessions are also available.
Experienced, professional independent tutors with strong subject knowledge and a track record of working one-on-one with students. Many hold degrees in their fields; some are certified teachers or graduate students with specialized expertise.

Support spans elementary through college across all core subjects (math, reading, writing, science, languages) plus test prep (e.g., SAT/ACT, AP, GRE) and many electives. If it’s taught in school, there’s likely a tutor with relevant experience. Adult learners can also benefit from tutoring services in a wide variety of subjects.
Most families choose 60-90 minute sessions 1-2 times per week. Cadence and length are set directly with the tutor to fit the student’s goals, pace, and schedule.
