    About Milton

Part of Fulton County, the city of Milton took its name from Revolutionary War Hero John Milton. Milton recently was honored by the Atlanta Business Chronicle for offering the highest quality of life in the state of Georgia. The city also was named as providing residents with the ninth-highest quality of life in the southern United States.

Businesses in Milton range from the Publix Super Market to Bath & Body Works. Families who want to provide their children with the latest computer products can head to Fry's Electronics, and those who love games frequent the GameStop, with its wealth of new and pre-owned video games for Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo.

Parents looking for a new way to entice their children to step away from the video game can turn to Karate Atlanta, which offers Taekwondo fitness instruction. In an era where school bullying has become a concern, Karate Atlanta offers classes designed to teach anti-bullying techniques, including how to avoid dangerous situations. In addition, self-defense classes are offered for women. And for parents looking for something different for a birthday party, the Karate Party option may be the answer.

Among the options to stay healthy in Milton, the Milton Country Club offers a range of choices for families as well as individuals of all ages. When the weather gets hot, the pool becomes even more inviting. Holiday pool parties, live music events for adults only on designated Saturdays, and time to play are among the highlights of the pool area.

For parents concerned about teaching their children how to swim, nine levels of swimming instruction are offered at the club. Parents can sign up for the "Mom ‘n Tot" swim sessions, while adults who never mastered the sport can take special clinics for non-swimmers.
Those seeking a way to up their fitness can take advantage of the Milton Country Club Fitness Center, with workout options including flexibility training, machines, bands, and cardio workouts. Individual training sessions are available, along with a range of cardio and strength-training machines.

Whether you're seeking to learn golf or to master the game, Milton offers a range of facilities to tee off. The Atlanta National Golf Club in Milton is famed as a golf retreat. The 18-hole green was designed by Pete and P.B. Dye, and the golf club includes practice facilities, dining areas and even spaces for special events.

What does the future hold for Milton? Milton recently partnered with The Buxton Group, which specializes in retail and customer marketing analysis, to find companies for the vacant storefronts along the Ga. 9/ Deerfield Parkway corridor, the Milton Herald recently reported. The partnership focuses on finding and recruiting both retailers and restaurants along with retaining businesses currently located in Milton.

"Our goal is to help the business owner enter a space that matches their needs," explained Sarah LeDart, Milton Economic Development Manager. “Working with Buxton, Milton is better positioned to attract new retailers and fill vacant space. By finding the right retailer and/or space match, we’re setting businesses up for success and maximizing business retention."
