Today, USF is an American metropolitan public research university, and is classified by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, as a top tier research university. It is the fourth largest public university in the state of Florida and now has fourteen colleges. The university offers more than eighty undergraduate majors and one hundred and thirty graduate, specialist and doctoral-level degree programs.
