When you think of Florida, what comes to mind? The beach? The Everglades? Palm trees? How about a sunrise? Sunrise, Florida is just as beautiful as you might imagine from its name, and both residents and tourists agree that this area is a gem within the Sunshine State.

The city of Sunrise boasts a high quality of life for its residents, as it takes care to provide a positive environment and facilities for all of its citizens’ needs. Located in the heart of southern Florida, Sunrise is a great place to live with easy access to many other nearby cities.

Sunrise considers itself to have a small-town feel, which its residents love. The close-knit sense of community is something that local families enjoy. Since Sunrise is located within a thriving, growing metropolitan area, the city also boasts all of the amenities a large, bustling city would have to offer. Residents don’t have to sacrifice resources to feel the closeness associated with a safe, smaller town.

Immediately to the west of Sunrise you’ll find the Everglades Wildlife Management Area. An attraction in and of themselves, the Everglades has a tropical climate, and is considered to be wetlands, which are swamp-like and very humid. Water that drains from the Kissimmee River into Lake Okeechobee then drains into a slow moving river system. Over 50 miles wide and over double that in length, this waterway flows slowly down to the Florida Bay.

Like the Everglades, Sunrise has a tropical climate. This means that winter months are dry and warm, while the summer season is humid and hot. It is no wonder so many people like to escape the colder winters experienced in much of the rest of the country and retire in Florida. You can leave your sweater at home!

Despite being further inland than many of its surrounding cities, Sunrise still maintains close access to some of Florida’s most beautiful beaches. Just a short drive provides residents and tourists alike with an easy gateway to enjoy an actual sunrise on the ocean.

Sunrise prides itself on being a sustainable community. With ongoing environmental projects, Sunrise hopes to preserve the natural beauty and landscape for future generations to come. “Good and Green” is a local initiative to help motivate and inspire citizens and visitors alike to engage in sustainable practices.
