St. Cloud Tutors Come To You

According to the official website of St. Cloud, Florida, the city is a “family-oriented community offering small-town charm…” Apparently, others concur: In 2017, SmartAsset, a personal-finance technology company, ranked St. Cloud as the seventh-best city in Florida in which to raise a family. Based on SmartAsset’s data, St. Cloud’s child-care costs, home value change, high school graduation rate, family poverty rate, crime rate, median household income, and median housing costs made the city a winner. Those kinds of rankings sit well with adults, but may not be quite as revered by kids, who just want fun things to do in a safe environment. Luckily, St. Cloud delivers! Following are some of the great ways St. Cloud kids can have fun (that is, when they’ve caught up on homework and prepared well for tests with the help of a St. Cloud tutor):

Borrow Pit Pond Youth Fishing Tournament
Kids wanting to demonstrate their fishing prowess publicly can participate in this “catch-and-release” fishing tournament at Borrow Pit Pond, which is stocked with catfish for the event. Participants bring their own fishing gear, but bait is provided.

Downtown St. Cloud Classic Car Cruise-In
What could be cooler than an exquisitely restored classic car? Even before they learn to drive, kids love classic cars, and St. Cloud has plenty of them on display on Wednesday evenings in downtown. Youthful car-lovers can ooh and ah over classic car engines, tires, interiors, and exteriors while parents and grandparents can enjoy the amenities of St. Cloud’s historic downtown (and, at the same time, reminisce about their former automotive beauties and the good ‘ol days).

Lakefront Park
Kids love this park’s splash pad, sandy beach, fishing pier, concession area, and lakeside playground. Parents will appreciate covered picnic areas, the boating facilities, and walking and biking trails.

Chris Lyle Aquatic Center
A hot and steamy day in St. Cloud calls for a trip to the Chris Lyle Aquatic Center for splash pad play, swimming a few laps, or sunning in a lounge chair on the pool deck. Serious swimmers can join the RAYS (Recreation Aquatics Youth Swim) summer swim team.

Summer Movies
Summertime brings opportunities to watch movies outdoors, both on the lakefront and at the Chris Lyle Aquatic Center. Films are chosen to appeal to the whole family.

Reptile World Serpentarium
This don’t-miss attraction is a great way for St. Cloud kids to view lizards, crocodiles, alligators, turtles, birds, and eighty species of snakes. Although the variety of species alone is jaw-dropping, the twice-daily venom show is even more so. In front of an audience, herpetologists George Van Horn and Rosa Van Horn milk venomous snakes, not only for the educational benefit, but also to ship the venom worldwide for use in herpetological and medical research.

St. Cloud students who work with a St. Cloud tutor can whittle away their homework sessions and spend more time in all that this great city has to offer!
