    About Springfield

Near the border of Virginia and Maryland, you will find the city of Springfield. This suburban area in northern Virginia is a beautiful place to live, and its location within the metropolitan area of Washington D.C. affords residents access to many big city amenities. Families love living in Springfield because of its great location, as well as its relatively low crime rate and high quality of life.

Back in the late 1700s, the area that is now Springfield was a region known for its saw mill and grist mill, producing much of this area’s lumber. These mills were the main source of work for the area, providing many jobs to the settlements nearby. Even though these mills existed here for more than half a century, you won’t find any remnants of the old saw mill or grist mill in Springfield today.

With the arrival of the railroad in the mid 1800s, Springfield popped up as people began to settle this area of Virginia. Springfield existed primarily as a rural settlement until the middle of the 20th century, when a large and prominent highway was constructed in the area, bringing easier access to Springfield. With better transportation, more people began to settle in Springfield, and the city experienced a bit of a population boom.

Springfield locals and residents from surrounding communities love the Springfield Town Center, which is a huge shopping mall within the city. This mall not only provides many jobs, it also helps to stimulate the economy with a wide range of shops, restaurants, boutiques, and galleries. Springfield has a lot to offer its residents, and even though Springfield is close in proximity to bigger cities, like Washington D.C., residents find that most of what they need is located within Springfield itself.

Families that live here in Springfield love the high quality of education that they find in the Fairfax County Public School District. This district is full of passionate teachers that care about the education of the children that live here in Springfield. With a number of elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools to choose from, parents enjoy having a great selection and different options available. Public schools, private schools, and charter school serve the area including Springfield. Parents that feel their child could benefit from the help of a local Springfield tutor will be happy to know that this service is available to them. A little extra one-on-one help from a local tutor could make all the difference in a student’s educational success.
