The city of Spring is a city that’s all about country living. In the southeastern part of Texas, Spring is located within the Houston metropolitan area, and there is no doubt about its unique Texas flavor. Families that have settled in Spring love its small town, country atmosphere, where everything happens a little slower than the crazy pace of big city life. Thanks to its close proximity to Houston, however, residents are given access to all of the beneficial resources of big city life, and many who live in Spring commute to Houston for work each day.
Originally home to the Orcoquiza Native Americans, Spring’s white settlement began as a trading post. With less than two hundred residents at that time, the population began to slowly increase as more European immigrants began to move to the area for the opportunity of this undeveloped land. Beginning to ready the land to be prime farming territory, immigrants from surrounding states started to trickle in after the Civil War.
Throughout Spring’s modern history, the town has been known for its sugar cane crops, and its cotton crops too. These became the main farming staples in this area, as they grew well in the Texan humid subtropical climate. Many of Spring’s early residents also did some gardening of their own, producing vegetables for the town to buy or trade for other goods and services.
As is true with much of this area of the southwest United States, the arrival of the railroad in the late 1800s was a big game changer for the community of Spring. The International Railroad, along with the Great Northern Railroad, both arrived in the late 1800s, and as a result, Spring saw tremendous population growth. More businesses started to pop up as well, and industry expanded. Now with grist mills, cotton gins, schoolhouses, and more, Spring also employed many railway workers and shipping hands.
With the addition of many new businesses and opportunities to Spring, it became necessary to open a bank. Of course, in the early 1930s, bank robberies were not uncommon, and Spring was no exception. A famous fact about Spring’s State Bank is that it is rumored that the very well known bank robbers, Bonnie and Clyde, had robbed the bank at one time.
As time rolled on, Spring continued to attract new residents, and suburbs began to develop. Old Town Spring is the original area that Spring of years past occupied; now, this area is restored and there is a fun shopping area that tourists enjoy visiting while exploring Spring.

Families share goals and scheduling preferences through a short intake. That information becomes a learner profile. Grade Potential then introduces your profile to a professional independent tutor whose background aligns. Once the tutor accepts, you’re introduced directly and sessions can begin.
Our packages are highly customizable based on your budget, preferred session cadence, time frame, location, and a few other factors. You’ll be presented with clear pricing before you begin. We support families in choosing the session length and cadence that works best for their individual situation; no hard sales tactics and no obligation to purchase a long-term package.
