Portland is consistently rated as one of the most bicycle friendly towns in the United States. There are so many ways to use your bike in Portland. Portland loves to bike so much that the city are even annual festivals dedicated to biking. The largest festival is Pedal Palooza. The event features more than 200 organized rides throughout Portland. Many of them are themed like the Midnight Mystery Ride where the starting location is only revealed on the day of the ride. Another attraction on wheels in Portland are food carts. Portland has more than 500 food carts on the move. Often the trucks will loosely organize in one location called a pod. There can be as few as 3 trucks in a pod or more than 60 carts depending on the size of the lot where they meet. The Test Garden includes several themed areas including the Shakespeare Rose Test Garden. Originally designed to feature trees, plants and flowers named in Shakespeare’s plays, today this portion of the garden is mainly known for rosebushes named after Shakespearean characters.
