The ten villages that form the Association of Poinciana Villages (APV) in the community of Poinciana, Florida, proudly celebrated the completion of the first phase of the renovation of the Vance Harmon Park and the grand opening of the Mary Jane Arrington Gym and Aquatic Center in May 2017. The planning for the renovation began in 2013, four years prior. The project, a partnership between the County of Osceola and the APV, involved an $8.65 million budget plus $650,000 in community grant funding.
The 285,000-gallon pool is comprised of twenty-five-meter swim lanes, two diving boards, twelve-foot diving wells, and handicap lifts. With the new pool, APV can now offer swim programs geared toward toddlers, high-school athletes, adults, seniors, and every age group in between. The pool can also can accommodate Special Olympics meets and practices as well as scuba diving courses.
Adjacent to the pool, the community center provides restrooms, a locker room, meeting rooms, and a warming kitchen. A fitness trail encircles the nearby pond, and there is also a movie lawn for showing movies during the summer, an outdoor pavilion, and a multi-use lawn for sports, outdoor activities, and good-ol’-fashioned play.
With the sparkling pool and polished community center completed, APV will better be able to accommodate summer camps, basketball teams and clinics, soccer teams and clinics, and programs hosted by the University of Florida Cooperative Extension.
To make it easy for Poinciana residents to use the new facilities, a new electronic technology, the EZ Facility system, has been put into place to seamlessly manage the spaces and make best use of staff. The app monitors the facilities by digitally scanning members into facilities and creating a universal booking system for the venues. Residents can purchase their memberships online or from their mobile devices even before they enter the facilities, saving time and hassle.
Hundreds of excited villagers gathered for a grand opening and ribbon cutting in May. The special day featured a Special Olympics swim meet and a scuba diving demonstration. Daytime fireworks topped off the exciting event.
The fun is not over yet for Poinciana. Phase two of the renovations will include two playgrounds, upgrades to the football and softball fields, two new outdoor basketball courts, an amphitheater, and a dog park.
Students who work with a Poinciana tutor will have much more time to play at the new pool and community center. Tutoring in Poinciana pays off because students can manage their homework load, perform better on tests, and carve out time for those super-fun cannonballs off of the high dive!

Families share goals and scheduling preferences through a short intake. That information becomes a learner profile. Grade Potential then introduces your profile to a professional independent tutor whose background aligns. Once the tutor accepts, you’re introduced directly and sessions can begin.
Our packages are highly customizable based on your budget, preferred session cadence, time frame, location, and a few other factors. You’ll be presented with clear pricing before you begin. We support families in choosing the session length and cadence that works best for their individual situation; no hard sales tactics and no obligation to purchase a long-term package.
