Tucked into the picturesque, rolling terrain of Plymouth, Minnesota, are parks, trails, and lakes galore. One of these lakes, Medicine Lake, is a haven for sailors, who can often be found clustering around the Clifton E. French Regional Park’s sailing docks at the north end of the lake.
According to the Medicine Lake Sailing Club’s website, sailing is the best medicine. Leaving stress and problems on the dock, members enjoy participating in the three-thousand-year-old tradition of sailing. Being out on the water, especially in a racing situation, provides a thrill that is hard to beat. This fifty-member club congregates at French Regional Park docks several times a week for sailing, socializing, and learning. Open to beginners as well as experienced racers, the club participates in about a dozen sailboat racing events from May through September, some of which it sanctions.
Another place to learn sailing is the Northern Breezes Sailing School, which also sails from French Regional Park. Adult courses are offered on 17–21-foot sailboats in classes with a 1:2 or 1:3 instructor-to-student ratio. Additionally, the Three Rivers Park District offers classes in sailing and racing at French.
Besides boating, French Regional Park is also great for fishing, paddling, and swimming. Non-water options include picnicking, hiking, and biking. In the winter, the park’s trails can be used for cross-country skiing, sledding, and snowshoeing. The park has both indoor and outdoor spaces for meetings or events like weddings. Through the park district, kids can sign up for a spring fishing club, and older teens can try keelboat and spinnaker sailing classes. Adult options are CPR and first aid classes, sailing and racing instruction, Vinyasa flow yoga, and the GreenFit club, which is a three-month program of instructor-led Nordic walking, yoga, archery, geocaching, canoeing, and general fitness. Speaking of fitness, the 13-mile paved Medicine Lake Regional Trail connects to French Regional Park, as does the 1.8-mile paved Bassett Creek Regional Trail.
Medicine Lake has two smaller parks besides French Regional Park. Along the southeast edge of the lake is East Medicine Lake Park, which has a beach, grills, a playground, and trails. On the southwest edge of the lake, the larger West Medicine Lake Park provides a boat launch, beach, playground, sand volleyball court, basketball court, grills, picnic shelter, and trails. All of this outdoor fun is the reward for students who seek tutoring in Plymouth to earn good grades.
Whether Plymouth resident or visitor, Medicine Lake is a place worth checking out. Students who love spending time outdoors will appreciate working with a Plymouth tutor for effective time management—and more time at the lake!

Families share goals and scheduling preferences through a short intake. That information becomes a learner profile. Grade Potential then introduces your profile to a professional independent tutor whose background aligns. Once the tutor accepts, you’re introduced directly and sessions can begin.
Our packages are highly customizable based on your budget, preferred session cadence, time frame, location, and a few other factors. You’ll be presented with clear pricing before you begin. We support families in choosing the session length and cadence that works best for their individual situation; no hard sales tactics and no obligation to purchase a long-term package.
Typically within 2-3 business days, depending on subject, location, and schedule availability. Urgent timelines are noted in your profile so introductions prioritize your timing.

Experienced, professional independent tutors with strong subject knowledge and a track record of working one-on-one with students. Many hold degrees in their fields; some are certified teachers or graduate students with specialized expertise.
