    About Overland Park

Since its early days, Overland Park has been a popular city to live in within the state of Kansas. Boasting the second highest population in the state, Overland Park can be found along the eastern border of Kansas. Since it is located within the Kansas City metropolitan area, residents of Overland Park enjoy easy access to all of Kansas City’s amenities along, though Overland Park boasts a wide variety of amenities and features of its own.

One of Overland Park’s claims to fame go back to its early days as a subdivision designed for residential use. Back in the early 1900s, the founder of Overland Park sponsored the Wright Brothers’ flight, which happened to be the first flight of its kind past the Mississippi line.

Due in part to its great location, Overland Park is a very popular place to live in the state of Kansas. With its high quality of living and access to many sources of entertainment and recreation, families love living in Overland Park. Nearly two thousand acres of parks and recreational facilities are available to residents and tourists in Overland Park. These spaces are well maintained by Parks and Recreation Department employees, as well as local volunteers that wish to keep the local environment in good condition for future generations to enjoy.

A favorite place to visit for both residents and local tourists is the Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens. Showcasing various local features and a wide variety of natural wildlife, the arboretum showcases gorgeous rock features, huge native trees, and a long network of trails for walking and enjoying the beautiful scenery. An offshoot of the Blue River, Wolf Creek runs through the gardens, adding to the lush beauty and showcasing the ecosystem that is present in this region of Kansas. The Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Garden is a great spot in Overland Park to take the whole family for some outdoor adventuring.
