“A City on the Move”, Oakland Park is a diverse, growing community located in South Florida. Their self-declared vision is to be “a hometown choice for excellence in people, public service, and community.” With a focus on developing local business and establishing beautiful, safe neighborhoods, Oakland Park is a small city with big dreams.
One of the older communities in Broward County, Florida, Oakland Park was originally chartered as the town of Floranada in the 1920s. The boundaries, at the time, were expansive, but as much of Florida experienced the hardship and devastation of a horrible hurricane in 1926, all growth was brought to a halt. Many residents chose to settle elsewhere and many businesses picked up and moved after experiencing such loss from the storm. The few brave citizens that remained worked hard to rebuild, and in 1929 the city of Oakland Park was established. Time for a fresh start!
Home to mainly farmers from the surrounding areas, the small city of Oakland Park became close-knit and centered around families and social events. With only one church in town, the Methodist Church, locals held most social activities there. In time, as the city began to experience growth once again, more homes were built and the population started to rise. Today, Oakland Park features many cherished amenities, including a library, a recreation program, and many expansive parks.
Families love living in Oakland Park because of the values that this city was founded on. Built on the backs of hard working Floridians, Oakland Park is focused on the core values of “respect, integrity, service, and excellence”. Working together will always be important, as that is the reason why Oakland Park was formed after the hurricane of 1926. It’s always important to remember where you came from!
Located in the southern region of the Sunshine State, Oakland Park has a tropical climate. This means that in the summer months the weather is hot and humid, while in the winter months the weather is warm and dry. This type of weather makes Oakland Park (along with almost anywhere in Florida) a popular location to retire, as many “snowbirds” like to stay in this area while other parts of the country experience harsh, cold winters. Factor in its close proximity to many beautiful, picturesque Florida beaches, and it’s not hard to imagine the reasons why so families and businesses alike are moving to this region.

Families share goals and scheduling preferences through a short intake. That information becomes a learner profile. Grade Potential then introduces your profile to a professional independent tutor whose background aligns. Once the tutor accepts, you’re introduced directly and sessions can begin.
Our packages are highly customizable based on your budget, preferred session cadence, time frame, location, and a few other factors. You’ll be presented with clear pricing before you begin. We support families in choosing the session length and cadence that works best for their individual situation; no hard sales tactics and no obligation to purchase a long-term package.
Typically within 2-3 business days, depending on subject, location, and schedule availability. Urgent timelines are noted in your profile so introductions prioritize your timing.

Experienced, professional independent tutors with strong subject knowledge and a track record of working one-on-one with students. Many hold degrees in their fields; some are certified teachers or graduate students with specialized expertise.

Support spans elementary through college across all core subjects (math, reading, writing, science, languages) plus test prep (e.g., SAT/ACT, AP, GRE) and many electives. If it’s taught in school, there’s likely a tutor with relevant experience. Adult learners can also benefit from tutoring services in a wide variety of subjects.
