"We had a great experience working with our tutor, Danielle. She was wonderful, patient, kind, and always prepared. She even tailored lessons to Sofia's needs (and moods)."

The town of Islip’s earliest records date back to 1683, and like many towns in the neighborhood that have substantial land along the coastline it’s earliest history shows much work related to fishing, whaling, boating and shipbuilding. There is definitely a very strong sense of community in Islip. According to Islip tutors the community really does make a concerted effort to make its residents welcome and included and they organize numerable events weekly and annually to encourage residents to come out and meet and get to know each other. The town has also put together its own historical guide in the form of the “Islip Trail.” The local government has selected thirty points of interest that they recommend any visitor coming into their town should learn more about to develop a stronger understanding of what Islip is all about.
This year the town has organized a very special event to coincide with the “Annual Northwell Health Great South Bay Run,” it is known officially as the “Great South Bay Seafest.” This festival is taking place at the end of the September and organizers expect it to attract not only residents of Islip, but to draw those from all nearby cities and towns across Long Island. They expect attendance to be in the thousands and for it to become a mainstay and hopefully even a tradition for some families on the Islip community calendar.
The “Annual Northwell Health Great South Bay Run” has been going for thirty-two years and continues to be a very popular event in the community. The Great South Bay Seafest will be located at the Bay Shore Marina which is the starting and finishing point for the race. The Great South Bay Seafest will be a big post-race party. Entrance to the event is free, and stores within the city have special deals and pricing set up for the day. There is also planned two bands with live music to be played outdoors on the streets, more than fifty stalls with vendors, foodtrucks on site, handcrafted items and gifts, a free snapper fishing clinic, free paddleboard and kayaking lessons, pony rides and petting zoo, fireworks display and interactive street performers to engage with. According to Islip tutors, the festival organizers also set up opportunities to board the historic ship Priscilla and the Lauren Kristy River Boat. The festival draws to a close in the late afternoon at 4pm before attendees pack up and head back home. The city has also organized for free shuttle buses to help being and return guests from the event.

Families share goals and scheduling preferences through a short intake. That information becomes a learner profile. Grade Potential then introduces your profile to a professional independent tutor whose background aligns. Once the tutor accepts, you’re introduced directly and sessions can begin.
Our packages are highly customizable based on your budget, preferred session cadence, time frame, location, and a few other factors. You’ll be presented with clear pricing before you begin. We support families in choosing the session length and cadence that works best for their individual situation; no hard sales tactics and no obligation to purchase a long-term package.
Typically within 2-3 business days, depending on subject, location, and schedule availability. Urgent timelines are noted in your profile so introductions prioritize your timing.
In-person at home or another convenient, quiet, safe location (like the local library). When families need flexibility, online sessions are also available.
Experienced, professional independent tutors with strong subject knowledge and a track record of working one-on-one with students. Many hold degrees in their fields; some are certified teachers or graduate students with specialized expertise.
Yes—safety is our top priority. Tutors complete screening through Simpliverified background checks, consistent with local requirements and platform standards.
Just let Grade Potential know. Your profile can be introduced to a different tutor at no cost to you, and once accepted, you’ll be re-introduced so sessions continue without losing momentum.
Support spans elementary through college across all core subjects (math, reading, writing, science, languages) plus test prep (e.g., SAT/ACT, AP, GRE) and many electives. If it’s taught in school, there’s likely a tutor with relevant experience. Adult learners can also benefit from tutoring services in a wide variety of subjects.
Most families choose 60-90 minute sessions 1-2 times per week. Cadence and length are set directly with the tutor to fit the student’s goals, pace, and schedule.
