Hollywood Tutors Come To You

Advantageously located between Fort Lauderdale and Miami Beach, Hollywood, Florida is a sun splashed piece of real estate with luxury beach hotels, golf courses and beach front property. Intending to establish a new motion picture mecca on the east coast, Joseph W. Young founded the city in the 1920’s and promptly named it “Hollywood by the Sea,” later shortening it to Hollywood with incorporation in November of 1925. Young carefully planned his city with a wide boulevard, business section, two lakes, a boardwalk and large park areas. The city never became another movie kingdom and despite high hopes fell into hard times. Trouble came with the 1926 hurricane which caused devastation, including thirty-seven lives lost, uprooted trees, flattened buildings and downed electrical wires. Many Hollywood residents couldn’t recover and moved away.

A few years later the stock market crash further increased the city’s problems. Ever resilient, however, Young vowed to rebuild and by the end of the 1930’s Hollywood’s population had more than doubled. Young also envisioned a grand sea port, later called Port Everglades, which would eventually become one of the largest gateways for international trade and cruise ship vacations. During World War II the Hollywood Beach Hotel became a navy training school and the Hollywood Country Club an entertainment center for U.S. servicemen. After the war the hotel built the largest swimming pool and cabana club in America.

Boasting average temperatures between 68 and 83 degrees, Hollywood is today not only a vacation destination but also home to nearly 150,000 full time residents. It’s certain that a Hollywood tutor will get you caught up on your studies so you can enjoy the mild climate and all there is to do in the Miami area. Hollywood itself has numerous parks, golf courses and miles of pristine sandy beaches. A classic beach town, Hollywood features a charming 2.5-mile boardwalk which is a primary destination for sight-seers, joggers, bicyclists and roller-bladers. The boardwalk includes swanky restaurants, hotels, boutiques and shops. It is consistently ranked as one of the best boardwalk’s in the nation.

With six blocks of shopping, restaurants and art galleries along Hollywood Boulevard the historic downtown is on the National Register of Historic Places. The downtown features an ArtWalk each month, mural projects and the ArtsPark at Young Circle with 10 acres of green space, an interactive fountain as well as a variety of cultural events and live entertainment throughout the year. For nature lovers and recreationalists, West Lake, in the northern part of Hollywood, offers something for everyone. The park includes three different kayak trails which wind through thick mangrove woods out into the lake. The Anne Kolb Nature Center at West Lake has a 3,500-gallon aquarium with sea life native to the area, a miniature theater and several interactive displays and exhibits.
